  • He's pointing out to you that your view of why Scotland should leave the UK if there is a bad deal with the EU swings the same way regarding Scotland and the UK.

I.e. Better for Scotland to stay in the UK rather than become independent and join the EU (thus losing independence regarding trade).

I get excited when the week long brick wall of BS gets a good old smack, Clapton came in like a wrecking ball.
    Clapton tends to.
The honesty of what I've been telling you all is there for all to see, it's simplistic too. I believe you all understand it fully, and realise what you make me repeat by replying with such bizarre posts such as the UK not being in control of its trade, or Scotland suddenly selling fish and whiskey to the EU to make up for the 58% of services sold to the rUK. The ideas you and others propose are so odd I'm beginning to think you're all actually on a wind up. No one can seriously believe such things.
It's far too simplistic. And based on things none of us know will happen. We don't know where the Brexit negotiations will start off at yet. Everything else will be a response to that.

Re :- Whisky I was talking about the UK's current pre Brexit trade deficit getting much worse, not making up trade. Scotland going would be a huge loss to the UK. May should be taking Sturgeon a bit more at her word. I see posts, comments and articles all the time about Sturgeon posturing or panicing. In reality she's deadly serious, just like Salmond was ( when again all we ever heard was how he was just posturing over a referendum ).
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Only 5% of UK companies export to the EU. That leaves 95% that don't.
0% of Englefield Green companies export to the EU.

    And?
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

But if prices increase too much in the UK then we can source tariff free from the EU. Where would the UK be able to source Scottish goods/ services cheaper?

I've thought about it and I think I would rather stay in the EU than be at the sharp end of Westminster's future difficult decisions if it came to a choice.

You seem to be the only one who thinks negotiating trade deals is simple, quick and inexpensive.

We have already debunked your "services sold to the UK" pitch.

You've debunked Scottish services sold to the UK have you? I must have missed that, or you missed the link to scot.gov telling you I'm right.

Also if you've not read about the continuation of the ~50 free trade deals agreed by the UK via the EU being inheritable, that's not my fault either.

You're dreaming if you think Scotland is better placed to weather brexit in the EU.

Because they're not particularly well informed. As is evident by the content of the posts.

I'd be very surprised if the UK can quickly negotiate better deals than the EU has already in place.
    ...

Why do you think a single state will take longer to work out it's negotiating position than a collection of 27?

The EU has failed us all when it comes to trade deals with the rest of the world. There are too many conflicting interests amongst a group of 28 states.

Even a part of Belgium is holding up the Canada deal.

I think the world is changing faster now, not slower. You need to be able to respond in nimble fashion to changing demand. In fact, some Scottish separatists use this as an argument for iScotland, so why can't you see it applying to UK outside the EU?
  • Scotland going would be a huge loss to the UK.

We clearly can't have an open and honest discussion if you believe that Scotland leaving the UK will be a huge loss to the UK, but the same situation would not be a huge loss to Scotland also.

Your perception completely exonerates Scotland/iScotland of any problems, dilemmas, consequences, whatever you want to call them and foists them all upon the UK.

Quite obviously you're wrong if you don't acknowledge the even bigger loss that Scotland will feel by leaving the UK.

You don't know much do you!

You can't tell Clapton what currency an iScotland will use. You can't say when the advisory indy ref 2 will be called.

Have you considered knocking on Hamish's door and asking him? ;)

In contrast, PM May has told you when A50 is planned to start. We also know when A50 should conclude.

Perhaps you need some Tories to help the SNP plan.. :rotfl:
