Immigration isn't devolved. And yet again we've got people thinking that Scots have forgotten that over the entire period of the last referendum one of the very prominent reasons continually put forward against independence was 'an aging population'. That's why we needed to stay in the UK. Brexit isn't going to help matters much on that front is it ?
28 October 2016UK government rejects student visa calls
..But the Scottish Affairs Committee report cited an 80% drop in non-EU students remaining in the UK after graduating since the visa was scrapped.
It said change was necessary to address demographic challenges in Scotland and fill skills gaps in areas including health and finance.
The University of Edinburgh has also warned of a "brain drain of global talent" caused by students moving away from Scotland after graduation.
Now on top of that we'll possibly be losing qualified EU students who might stay on and build lives here as well.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

God forbid you might need to offer free tuition to English people to boost numbers.0 -

Brexit will only make things much worse for Scotland which has vastly different demographic challenges facing it.
You are going to need the support so willingly given by the English.
Why will Brexit make things worse when you don't know what it is? You are being unclear.Union, not Disunion

I gave an appropriate response to a flippant deflection from the issue under discussion at the time.Union, not Disunion

The less the indy crowd answer questions the more the thread descends into farce.
If you have no answers to give now and it goes badly, and the converted all go quiet, it doesn't bode well for indy campaign number 2.
Perhaps you all ought to reconsider not answering questions in preparation and practice for the real deal or it could oh so easily go wrong, again.
You're not convincing anyone on here, unless anyone can refute that? I'm keen to know.0 -

What a load of 'devolved baloney'.
Migrants are going where the work is !!
Don't you get that?
For very different reasons that means East of England and London as popular destinations.
Nothing is stopping companies setting up in Scotland; becoming successful; growing; and advertising for more staff across Europe. Nothing. Not one bit.
Our favourite faux Geordie, Mike Ashley, employs loads of migrant workers in Derbyshire. He doesn't need devolution to tell him where to base his distribution warehouses.
If you had a Tory led Scottish parliament you might start attracting jobs.

Oh I have learnt something. This is that the A9 highway up in Scotland must actually end in Damascus.
This is the only way I can explain Hamish's conversion, on one of his drives on the road to Damascus.
(At least I think it's Damascus. It might be a mirage caused by the Brexit fog)0
