Yep, the independence "movement" is riddled with this kind of "chip on the shoulders" double standards.

Good luck trying to explain that to some of them though! :)
Ah yes, the convenient deafness when anything disagreed-with is mentioned.
Strange how it starts at the top of the SNP tree and seems to have worked its way right down to the roots, eh?

    "Budget?"
    "Eh? Whaat?"
    "Currency?"
    "Um eh?"
    "Borders?"
    "Ah well err?"
    "Armed Forces?"
    "Oh um err?"
    "EU yes or no?"
"Er well if .. definitely ..... maybe......?"

"But you at Westminster have to tell us ALL your plans for Brexit (so we can inform our EU "pals" on the side AND stamp our feet in mock horror)!"

    Ah yes.
    An ENGLISH SNP supporter. ;)
    Albeit supposedly living in Scotland.

A little bit like previous smokers being the most vociforous and vocal anti-smoking advocates, eh?

The starting position today is 47% for indy....

I doubt that. Remember 40% of Scotland voted Leave, so the SNP can only fish for votes from the remaining 60% Remainers. So to get 50%+ it would have to get nearly all the Remainers to vote Leave the UK. Doesn't sound very doable.

Remember though as well some of the people that voted leave also voted yes ... some of them may choose to vote yes again... there are active snp members that want out the UK but also want out the EU, some of whom will be willing to accept the EU ( for a while or possibly for good) if it means getting out the UK... it's all up in the air just now

But the bookies are swaying towards independence so that can be seen as a strong indicator for indy in some ways
  • I doubt that. .

Actually I was incorrect - looks like Indy has gained another point since last time I checked - so the starting position is now 48%. ;)

Latest Ipsos MORI poll shows 48% for independence and 52% for remaining in the UK.
“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

The thread has descended into farce.

    Reality no longer matters.

Economists predictions are now absolute facts and the outcome of negotiation with the EU is already known and it's worse than the 2008 financial crisis by multiple orders of magnitude, I think it was something like 1.7 million repossessed homes. Right Hamish?

Jokes that the average person in the UK would both tell and laugh at are now "disgusting" to score pseudo-political points and take a moral high ground position. But it's everyone else who is politically shallow.

Anyone who voted to Remain in the EU is definitely an independence supporter, anyone who voted to Leave the EU is irrelevant to Scottish society, including those who vote Leave and vote SNP.

The EU is the way forward, 11 is the new magic number. 64 is old hat.

Scotland is the most tolerant nation on the planet, they have no sectarian divisions, racism or xenophobia. Which makes everyone south of the border look like neanderthals. The recent #WeAreScotland had nothing to do with virtue signalling for independence.

Scotland is also one of the richest nations on the planet, they have oil don't you know. They also have Whiskey Export Duty, the sale of UK assets (who stole them from Scotland anyway), pay more in taxation than they spend, and there's no deficit or debt. It's a wonder how the rest of the United Kingdom will manage without them should they become independent.

Scotland has a budget so large that NHS funding, armed forces, foreign office, welfare, EU contributions are not even concerns. When Scotland finally takes back this subsidy it gives to the UK every local leisure centre and library could be built out of solid gold, paid for by oil and taxation of the rich, or perhaps it was a dividend per household worth £1,400? It will quite literally be a wonder of the modern age.
  • Ha Ha to Scotland not being racist. Try using goggle just to find out how racist you are....

Please point to where it is suggested those that voted remain are deff indy supporters ? I personally reckon the way people.voted in the EU ref isn't an indicator on how they would vote on indy ref 2 ... I merely pointed out no one knows at this time and it's up in the air
