If, like me, you aren't very happy about leaving the EU the correct procedure is to moan about it and get ready to blame bad things on the Brexiteers. Only in the minds of nationalist acolytes is the antidote to Brexit an independent Scottish state.
I've not seen any polls for a while but assume by Sturgeon's lack of desire to call another referendum she thinks it can't be won. Clearly not as daft as some of her supporters.
It's not just Brexit, it's right wing Conservative Governments also. The SNP conference is in 12 days and she's in Iceland at the present time. There's no rush.First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is to give a speech on climate change at the Arctic Circle Assembly in Iceland.About 2,000 delegates from 50 countries are expected to attend the conference in Reykjavik, which is concerned with the development and protection of the Arctic region.
Other speakers include United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Sturgeon isn't in a rush because she understands Brexit hasn't delivered (yet at least) a hoped for surge in support for independence. What do the polls say?
I've got May down as a shrewd operator who isn't above a bit of pandering and politicking when the need arises. The obvious SNP snubs makes me think she's calculated there's no need to waste valuable time and effort on such activities
If the prospect of a long term Tory government and Brexit hasn't given 'yes' a solid lead in the polls what's going to?0 -

presumably she is consolidation her leadership of the Celtic Arc of Prosperity0 -
How can any red blooded Scot see those swaggering smug Tories thumbing their noses at them and smirking about their command of Scotland and not boil with anger?
How?0 -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-37543644I'll outline the steps Scotland is taking to cut emissions and how we want to use our position as a world leader to work with other like-minded countries and limit the effects of climate change in the coming decades."
Is this the royal UK "we" then?
Because much of a patriot though I am I can't see how Scotland can be called a "world leader" in cutting emissions, good though we may have proven to be.
In fact The Greens have said that (just as one example) Scottish "ministerial plans to cut air passenger duty by half would add 60,000 tonnes to Scotland’s growing emissions from aviation"; hardly world-leading is it?

I feel sorry for those attending, having to put up with more meaningless waffle and Sturgeon's excuse for a "jolly".0 -
What true Celt can suffer the sanctimonious poking of Theresa May's privileged posh finger and her sanctimonious dismissal of their rights and not boil with desire for freedom?0

Is she?
Can you phone Nicola on the SNP hotline then...ask her to pick up some frozen king prawns and those beefburgers they do?
I'm glad she's making herself useful0 -

Oh I dunno. If the SNP achieve independence you might not be able to afford to burn expensive fossil fuels in the future.
You might have to resort to burning second hand ikea furniture...and copies of the SNP manifesto (these burn easily, full of hot air y'see).0 -

Scottish Labour. They still have a large core vote of generally older 'always voted Labour' people ( the younger demographics are now overwhelmingly SNP )...who hate both the SNP and the Tories with equal passion. But the SNP is where Scottish Labour and their extremely supportive Scottish media have taken the fight over the last decade even while the Tories are in power in Westminster.
They're dead set on preserving the union at any cost under Dugdale. But she's on a sticky wicket at the moment after a few gaffes, car crash interviews and recent polling showing Scottish Labour down as low as 15%. Davidson also seems to get the lightest of feather down wisps of kid glove treatment from the media in terms of interviews. Especially from the BBC.
If Scottish Labour turn their turrets from the SNP to the Conservatives then is likely a lot of their voters will do the same. However, they can generate far more positive media coverage ( as can an any political party in Scotland ) by just issuing a press release saying 'SNP accused'. You know how it goes by now because the same happens with Corbyn. In doing so however, they let Ruth Davidson and the Tories away with pretty much everything and unbelievably have yet to learn that these tactics have only came back to bite them on the bum, not the SNP.
Is previous Scottish Labour No voters that will largely determine the course of any future referendum. A choice between Holyrood/Westminster Tories, and Brexit or the EU.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Eh ? I answered a post saying she was being quiet ( she's not been quiet on social media ). The SNP conference is in 12 days am sure like Theresa she'll be saving any announcements until conference. There's no rush for a referendum. Is far, far better to let Scots voters see the Tories make a complete a**e of Brexit for a bit first. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
