ALL nationalism is the same; it's just the tactics, spin and propaganda that's different.

Remember folks; the SNP are trying to wear UK down so that you guy's get fed up and say, "let them have their independance".

Which would be bizarre given such a small portion of Scot's want it:)

Don't fall for it; reject all Nationalism whether it's UKIP, SNP or NF.

    BETTER TOGETHER!

Don't be so silly. How can civic nationalism be compared to the fascism of the National Front? Honestly, the hysteria on this thread is unbelievable. Is it fear of the inevitable or something?

Taking your question at face value, my answer would be go educate yourself.

It's all there, just delve back into history.

BTW; what's this civic nationalism nonsense ;)

Is this a way to differentiate you from racists/fascists who also believe they are so superior they need to live apart from others?

If we're talking about education, you can't even spell independence or Scots!:rotfl:

Scotland is for those who live in it, that's where civic nationalism differs from the racism and fascism of UKIP and NF.

It is just a ludicrous position to try to defend.

Say's the guy/gal who would quite happily vote for economic suicide and "freedom" from a union of nations in which we get out far, far more than we put in.

Remind me for what purpose? :)

We both know that there won't be an independent Scotland any time soon.

I'm glad about that, you're not.

ps Thanks for the info on civic nationalism.

If I've been paying attention I now should know that Scottish nationalism is good nationalism and other nationalism is bad nationalism....is that right?

Almost proves my point really :rotfl:

??? Are you saying that Scots who live a few miles down the road in England are not proper Scots?

Scottish independence is about the decisions made with affect the lives of those who chose to live here, not those who happen to have been born here. Only ethnic nationalists would be concerned about where someone was born, or even use the language 'proper Scots'. My ancestors are Scottish as far back as I can trace, that doesn't make me more Scottish than anyone else born here.

I can't believe this is a shock to people.

I've told you countless times I want Scotland to be a normal country which makes its own decisions. I don't know how I can be any clearer.

Regardless of how much damage it will do for future generations?
Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind. - Albert Einstein.

“The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them.”-

You're welcome. I studied different forms of nationalism as part of my History degree so I can give you sources to more detailed, scholarly work if you would like.

You voted leave and you think you have the same position on the EU as someone who was one of the strongest Remain campaigners during the referendum?:rotfl:

I never said I had the same position, where on earth did you get that from?

I asked where do I differ. There's some clear differences and the question was pretty straight forward.

We both want single market access and I'm also fine with freedom of movement.

So my voting to leave the EU isn't completely at odds with Nicola's 'red lines'.

I don't agree that full EU membership is in the best interests of the nation. Even if we have to pay more to access the single market and don't have a say in the rules.
