You're being played by the media to distract you from something else. It's barely mentioned up here but a friend on the south coast tells me you guys get bombarded with it.
We are mate.
I cannot imagine what might happen if England were given the vote on whether we want any part of Scotland in the UK. Anger is building up down here against the Scots, and it really worries me0 -

It presumably is after subsidies or noone would bid on it. To put it out to tender after Abellio, it'll need to sell for less than its expected to bring in, or we'd be relying on some company doing it for charity.0 -
Exactly!! (from a YES voters mouth too
)
Reading the wider UK media you would think a signicicant number of Scots are frothing at the mouth at the "injustice" of "not having their voices listened to"
Reality, everyone getting on with day to day buisiness relieved that what seemed like endless elections/referenda talk is over....apart from the small minority of frothing at the mouth brigade who try and keep this "issue" at the front of the news.
We're not like brexiteers, we can want to leave without it dominating our lives and having our gutter press (who seem to be mostly unionist) frothing about it.
We cant really do much until we know what's happening with brexit.0 -
Take those rose tinted indy specs off, they are obviously only allowing you to see what the propaganda machine wants you to see
Not only that, but the hate of the English has been embraced as some kind of jolly pastime where you can openly admit to it, I even just let it go 99% of the time as a bit of banter in order not to stir things up even more.
Cannot forget the amount of times where you get a big group of Scottish football fans that are falling over themselves to let you know how they are ABE fans Anyone But England. At one point I was visting Scotland up to several times per year on social visits, remember I loved and still like the place. Without fail on each trip and after a few drinks there was always some DH who found it OK to be jokingly prodding you in the chest while telling you what w*****s the English were.
OK, I can see a argument for many wanting to leave, I get it. But many want to remember how much affection the English have for the Scottish and want to reign in what is clearly racist behaviour before things get worse0 -

All part of the Nationalist game plan.
Just keep reminding yourself they are a minority.0 -

Now that is a completely different thing, in Rugby and Football that is the way of it but in other sports it's not really an issue.
English rugby and football do have a certain arrogance and an expectation of doing well which we aren't too keen on up here. In both sports we have to fight tooth and nail for every victory.0 -

Your friend is spot on.
It's all subsidy-junkie this and once-in-a-generation that.
Almost makes you wonder if the media are one-sided.;)
Fact is, the media are trying to promote envy about prescriptions, education policies etc.
The people on the street are very calm and reasonable about it, on both sides, and most wouldn't blame Scotland for changing its mind, should that eventually happen. Even the tories would be happy with the UK splitting.
The odd knuckle-dragging cave-dwelling types might hate the other side but they're the kind of morons that'd pick a fight in an empty house anyway. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Yes, the SNP get more than their share of print, I'd like to see the Union side of Scotland promoted more by the papers.
From my English perspective, ignoring Scots is not on my agenda.
What does get ignored, however, is that bunch of fanatic "Whingeaholics" called the SNP.
The SNP have nothing to little to say that isn't boringly predictable and isn't accompanied by a sneer and a manufactured grievance. I certainy do ignore them.Union, not Disunion
I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.
