Doughty Scots are girding their loins. They will have a well deserved Christmas and then the real preparations for Indy will begin.

As to be expected his language is a bit colourful.

I am all for a laugh and a joke, in fact I hate how sensitive people can be. However I didn't find that funny at all past the first 10 seconds. Turned it off before it finished, was waiting for the narrative to change I guess, was shocked he kept going. English nationalism is strong with this one. People wrongly claim the SNP are anti-English, but listen to the response the predominately english audience gave to these "jokes". If the shoe was in the other foot and an audience of Scots were laughing at english bashing jokes for that length of time and it would be "SNP Scotland hate the english"...well perhaps a better headline but you take my point.

There is a strong anti-English sentiment within the SNP starting with use of 'Westminster' as a code word. Of that, there is no doubt and I think it’s intentional with the aim of provoking an equivalent reaction.

If I were PM, I would accede to every request from Mrs Sturgeon for more devolved powers. Given that this would result in Scots being taxed more when they already pay more taxes than the rest of the UK, it would be interesting to see how popular the SNP actually would be when they next have to seek re-election.

Perhaps it's born out of weariness of the constant message eminatating from the SNP over the past few years. You reap what you sow so to speak.
  • I should have known to fact-check your posts before responding. Scotrail is apparently being subsidised to the tune of around £300m per annum and the current franchise holders have just been stripped of the franchise after asking for another £250m a year. Some profit. I don’t think it’s nationalised either but could be wrong.

    Here's a shock development

All UK railway companies get subsidies.....

All the Scottish Government want to do is have Network Rail in Scotland (who they pay for) and Scotrail (who they pay money to) under Holyrood control

Currently Scotrail is under Holyrood and Network rail (in Scotland and UK) is under Westminster control, the Scottish Government want both (Scottish bit of Network Rail and Scotrail) controlled from Scotland
    baldly going on...

Shock development. Baldelectrician feels the need to point out what everyone already knows that all rail companies are subsidised. I was simply pointing out that, not for the first time, Herzlos was posting rubbish.

And if Scotland wants to control the Scottish part of Network Rail, it can have it as long as the hated English don’t have to pay for it any more. See my previous post above.

    100% absolutely spot on.

Anyone who tells you on here, in the flesh, on social media etc, that a HUGE part of the Scottish Independence movement isn't based of strong feelings of anti-englishness is either lying, stupid, or psychologically suppresing their awareness of it due to discomfort.

In areas where Nationalism is strongest, people feel comfortable enough to express it openly.

"Slice of racism with your Xmas pud Nicola?"

"Yes please, but don't tell our lefty friends down south or in Brussels" :)

A similar strategy as used by Momentum. Difference being is that the approach doesn't reasonate outside of London and other controlled strongholds. Preaching to the converted. Is just that.

As it's unimportant to all sensible people which side of the border posters here are from, let me be the first to wish all posters a Merry Xmas.
