I absolutely agree that there should be another referendum but only after a withdrawal agreement has been negotiated. The Scottish people should know exactly what it is that they are voting for. Only then will we see exactly how much support there is for independence. The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists.0

And of course it can’t be before the UK has finalised its future relationship with the EU, seeing as that’s what they are all moaning about it’s only fair that they get the full picture on what staying in the union looks like before they have to decide.0 -
The more detail we have on the future deal with the EU, the more we're going to want independence.
Especially if NI gets a special status.0 -

If the Nats were stupid enough to agree to that booby trap, the UK would cancel the withdrawal agreement if Scotland voted Leave, rendering the referendum result void.
If Scots vote Leave they have to be prepared for a no-deal Scotxit - as the UK was prepared for a no-deal Brexit. Otherwise it's not independence.
It makes absolutely zero sense to waste time negotiating a withdrawal agreement that might never happen. Referendum first, then withdrawal agreement if the Scots vote yes.
Should the Barnett formula be legally set in stone for the next 20 years so the Scots know what Remaining would look like? Because that's not actually possible even if we wanted to.0 -

The only way that the SNP will get another referendum will be if Westminster allows it so they would have no choice but to agree to what you call a booby trap.
I suspect that if Westminster were to say to Sturgeon come and sit down with us and have a serious discussion about the shape of a divorce settlement and if we can agree on that, we can put it to a vote. The Scots are reasonable people and are likely to agree to that. It would certainly pull the rug from under Sturgeon's feet. All they hear at the moment is Sturgeon screeching for a new referendum without any clear indication of what it would actually mean. The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists.0 -

2 What happened to Nicola saying she must see support hit 60% before she wanted another go and why can't you admit that support is nowhere near 60%? (45% in the most recent poll.)
the snp have been repeatedly voted in with mandates in their manifesto ... that gives us the rightSpiderLegs wrote: »Do you think Wales, England or NI would be allowed a referendum?
that would be up to them to decide, not my place to say0 -

Of course the problem being that this deal you are hoping will materialise would require a hard border between England and An independent Scotland.
Good luck selling that one.0 -

But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
