I actually had a friend pm me yesterday to tell me she had voted SNP, life long Tory voter, dad was a councillor strong advocate of No, strongest I have known

I nearly fell off my perch, spoke to her about it, her fear of Boris is what drives her, it's not the desire for Scotland to leave the UK, it's her fear of Boris

Polls sitting at margin of error levels for independence,

So your 'mandate' for becoming an independent country is going to be ignoring the wishes of virtually 50% of your population should the win be by a tiny majority?

Great way to start a new country.

Don't be silly. It was 50/50 before the election. Most of them point to an outright majority for independence if there's a Boris majority and a Hard Brexit takes place. And of course most of these polls don't include EU nationals and 16-17 year olds either. I also see Labour for Independence has rebooted and has been inundated with enquiries and support. Scottish Labour voters are finally waking up.

This election wasn't fought on independence by the SNP anyway. It was fought on giving Scots voters a choice.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

    Proud Scots look South.

They conclude, not unreasonably, that English people are mostly self centered, Tory voting bawbags.

    They will have independence!

No. I didn't. I just hoped we might. This time feels a whole lot more promising though. Polls all underestimated the SNP vote last night. One has to ask what else they've been underestimating.

Protests in Glasgow tonight about Boris. That's the socialist voters I was talking about. There are still half a million Labour voters in Scotland. A fair chunk of them will be switching to Yes after this.[/QUOTE]

NO we wont. Your arrogance is breath-taking.

I thought the exit poll predicted the SNP to get 55 seats?

SNP got 55 seats in 2015 just one year after the independence vote...it wasn't a mandate for a second vote then and 48 seats is not a mandate now.

Did they tell the voters then they were voting for a repeat of the vote? Probably wouldn't have had a mandate unless it was in their election manifesto.

This time, if claiming the right to the vote under changed circumstances was on the manifesto, sounds like that's a mandate.

I read somewhere that an independence referendum wasn’t even mention in their manifesto.
    Is that right?

Looks like it wasn't in the 2015 one, but is in the 2019 one.
