Proud Scots scent the fragrant whiff of freedom. They will strain on the yoke of the Tory Union no more.

    I wish them well.

SNP got 55 seats in 2015 just one year after the independence vote...it wasn't a mandate for a second vote then and 48 seats is not a mandate now.

That was before the EU referendum. The Scots rejected their own Independence referendum because they were told they needed to stay in the UK to stay in the EU.

They're now being taken out against their will, so on that basis they should have a second referendum. They also have the mandate for this as they won more of the vote in Scotland than Tories did in the UK.

You can't celebrate democracy by getting Brexit done whilst denying the Scots their referendum. It'll cause another constitutional crisis when we've finally got round to finding a way to solve the last one that has lasted three years.
  • Also, the flagship policy of Scottish Tories was no to a second indy ref.

They lost half their seats in Scotland.

Just like Brexit has to be done, so does a Scotland indy ref. That is the price.

NO we wont. Your arrogance is breath-taking.
    Suuuuuure. ;)
13/12/19 Kezia Dugdale has admitted the SNP has now won “three clear mandates” for a second independence referendum. The former Scottish Labour leader said that support for Scottish independence has “never been higher” after the SNP’s “sensational” result at the general election and it would be hard to disagree with the party’s demand for a rerun of the vote.

Leading Scottish Labour politician calls for IndyRef2

A leading Scottish Labour politician has called for a second independence referendum.
Alison Evison, president of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (Cosla), made the announcement on Saturday via Twitter and claimed democracy had become "fragile".

Its' happening. Oh and check out those Labour numbers from Ashcroft's poll recently. 40%. I'd say that's fair few for starters wouldn't you ?

It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Yes. It is. I personally don't think Nicola Sturgeon has ever had any intention of relying on a Section 30 granted from Westminster. I also don't think they have any intention of going to court to ask for one. Probably going from the opposite angle of Scotland's status within the UK ie Is Scotland a Nation or similar.

Also worth remembering that once the Referendum Bill is passed in Holyrood. It becomes legal according to Scottish Law... until challenged otherwise.

She's not dumb enough to expect Boris will give it her, but she's smart enough to realise that the more she presses and the more he pushes back, the more Scots will feel it a necessity.

It won't be instant but the longer it goes on the more noise it will create, and there will come a point whereby it transcends from shouting into direct political action.

You cannot deny democracy for very long. Boris should know that considering he's used just that to reduce the opposition party to nothing.
  • And of course most of these polls don't include EU nationals and 16-17 year olds either.

So your whole arguments revolves round using weans and foreigners?

Weans the nats have spent years indoctrinating in schools.

If EU nationals want a vote they can apply for citizenship if they are that keen.

Everything the nats do is to gerrymander the result in their favour.

Perhaps expat Scots should also be given the vote but that wouldn't suit your agenda now would it.

Why does this remind me so much of Catalonia?
The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists.
  • It would need to be legal in the eyes of the E.U., no point otherwise as Spain will block any request to join if there is a whiff of it being ‘illegal’.
The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

So your 'mandate' for becoming an independent country is going to be ignoring the wishes of virtually 50% of your population should the win be by a tiny majority?

We're leaving the EU based on a tiny majority in a non-binding, advisory referendum.

So the answer to your question is a big fat "Yes!"
