You watch, the Scots will find some way to spin that :rotfl::rotfl:

I had to laugh at one Nat yesterday, who claimed that Scotland’s deficit was an example of the U.K. Government maliciously ‘allocating’ English debt to Scotland. You can’t reason with that level of imaginary grievance.

This thread could be renamed. 'Which is best? English nationalism or Scottish nationalism?'

Not really, there’s only one constituent nation of the U.K. seriously considering breaking away. Although give it a few years and who knows.

The IFS confirms that England is in fiscal surplus to the tune of £11bn, ergo the Celtic nations are in deficit by £33bn.
This Union ain’t working.....if you’re English that is.
The Union ain't working period. The really funny thing is that the annual GERS report this year is leapt on by Scottish unionists absolutely desperate to show Scotland should stay in the UK. While at the same time eliciting the above kind of responses from elsewhere who on seeing the figures want to kick Scotland out as a total waste of time.

It's all grist to the mill. Eventually those much quoted and headlined Scottish unionist commentators and bloggers will realise their annual GERS hysterics over Scottish regional finances...will have only served to increase support for Scottish independence on BOTH sides of the border. Scottish Nats like me will owe them a great deal of gratitude in a few years time. They just can't see it yet the dumbos. :T
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

I have a feeling that the more the English bleat about Scotland ‘s membership of the Union, the more Scots will suddenly out of spite, embrace it. It’s part of the Scottish psyche. :)
The fact is however, if you’re Scottish the Union is working wonderfully. Well funded public services not blighted by 10 years of Tory austerity, a U.K. political elite scared witless at the thought of the break up of the UK and who are seemingly willing to impoverish the hapless English to keep you chaps happy. Whats not to like?
Even a catastrophic Brexit won’t be enough to give you the ‘freedom’ you seek, as the ramifications for Scots of Scottish independence economically, will dwarf Brexit in its scale and Scots maybe a lot of things, but they ain’t stupid.
You obviously can’t see it, but the GERS figures published yesterday push the dream of independence yet further away.
The challenge for UK politicians now is how to solve the quite legitimate burgeoning grievance the English now have as regards funding.
I’m off now to write a snotty email to my MP asking how he justifies a £1600 bung to Scots every year.
    Toodle Pip.

You're thinking of criteria to join the Eurozone not the EU.

Would provide Scotland with a stable currency.

You're lucky you don't have to live with these nationalist nutters on a daily basis.

Please think of the majority that support the Union.

I guess we'll be needing one when the £ falls though the floor in a few months time.

Folk in newspapers who think screaming and writing huge headline grabbers about GERS and what a drain Scotland is on the UK, then getting all hurt and teary eyed when Tory surveys emerge saying they, and many other non-members, dont give a toss if Scotland leaves... are dimwits. No question about it. What did they think would happen ?
