When you believe in the unicorn of Scottish independence I don’t suppose anything adds up.
With all three Celtic nations posting fiscal deficits, the only explanation is that England is running a fiscal surplus.
    Simple really.

That may be but GERS is supposedly put together by the SG statisticians so 'official', or have I got this wrong? A area of concern of me with these stats must be that Scotland does not meet the EU eligibility criteria which I think sets a fiscal deficit of 3% maximum? Either the figures are updated, a massive cut in expenditure is undertaken or no matter how indyref2 goes we won't be joining the EU.

    Suuuuure. ;)
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

You're thinking of criteria to join the Eurozone not the EU. GERS figures ( statistics provided by the ONS and collated by Scottish statisticians ) are a yearly recurring fairytale told to the gullible in an attempt to show how badly off Scotland would be independent. What it actually does 100% is show how badly off Scotland does as a devolved region within the Union.

Scotland should be running as fast as it can out of it. Westminster in charge has done absolutely nothing for the Scottish economy bar try to run it into the ground, then glorifies the results every year trying to blame those that have little to do with it. The feeding frenzy every year over GERS by those who want Scotland to continue in perpetual basket case status is extremely sad to watch.

Why is that so hard to believe?
If you total up NI, Wales and Scotland’s deficit figures, factor in the UK’s total deficit of circa £23bn, then England (London and the South East obviously) would have to post a budget surplus of £11bn, sounds feasible to me.
Do you visit England or speak even to English people, the level of rationing of public money we’ve had to endure to give you chaps an extra £1500 per head in public expenditure would shock you.

Proud Scots so not need the English purse strings to hang on to like marsupials in a slimy pouch.

Richer Scots will dig deep and will be happy to share their wealth with their poorer comrades. Indy will be paid for!

The IFS confirms that England is in fiscal surplus to the tune of £11bn, ergo the Celtic nations are in deficit by £33bn.
This Union ain’t working.....if you’re English that is.
