That is the problem, the Nats use this a cudgel to beat the rest of the UK and is all part of their long term strategy to alienate us from rUK.
Currently the majority of votes in Scotland are split three ways (the liberal party is also still fairly strong) this then splits the Unionist vote allowing the nats to take over the Scottish Parliament (another unnecessary expense).0 -

Things like they voted down the idea that English shops should be allowed to open longer on a Sunday because the few Scottish shops that were in areas close to the border might lose a little trade if English shops could open at the same times as the Scottish ones. Oh, and something about the "premium pay" the Scottish shop workers get for Sundays.
Stop interfering in our government (as in English rather than UK) business or let us interfere in yours and I will be happy.
Individuals are not responsible for the behaviour of governments.
I've said this before but it's worth one more go; I have as little influence over what Sturgeon and her followers say/do as you do over what (say) Corbyn or Farage say or do, (delete as applicable).
As a UK citizen I have as valid an interest in what the UK government does as you do, (as much as you obviously would like to have an English government there isn't one).
We aren't 2nd class citizens because we live in an area with an economic deficit; if that were so the majority of the UK would be in the same boat.
Pretty much everyone in the UK is subsidised by the powerhouse that is London/SE.....unless you live there in that part of the country it's not really valid to only focus on the fact that Scotland spends more than it raises; Londoners in theory could have the same gripe with the NE or Wales as you have with Scotland.
That's the point of opposing Nationalism, we're all in it together, rather than dividing the country up on spurious grounds.
Apologies if I've got this wrong but you're starting to come over as someone who hates the Scots in the same way as a large amount of Scottish Nationalists hate the English.
Tromking I disagree.....I dont think there's a blind spot. Most Scots recognise the injustice that is tipped in our favour.
Personally a gradual rebalance is in order; which of course would still leave us far mor prosperous than independence would.0 -
For saying this thread hasn't descended into a Scottish Nat vs English Nat 'debate' there are quite a few English Nats needing to be educated on the difference between a Scot and a Scottish Nat.0

Anything shakey says should be totally ignored...they are a typical hate filled gullible Nat and not a true representation of what the people of Scotland are.0

Once again, Scottish Nationalists, not "the Scots".
You're reading the views of a handfull of individuals on an internet forum and attributing their views to a whole nation.
These people are SNP members keeping a dying ideology alive, the majority of people don't care.
I realise that you have a grieveance about the good deal that Scotland gets from the union, I would share your view.
If what you are really trying to say is that you wish rUK was free of Scotland at least be upfront about it rather than implying the majority of your fellow Uk citizens north of the border are unhappy and want to leave.
Is folks like Mollycat who are doing the SNP's job for them. Maybe next time there's a day of screeching headlines about SCOTTISH blackholes and SCOTTISH deficits they'll ( not Molly on this occasion) pipe down a bit and realise that folks from other parts of the UK can read and use the internet too hmmm.. Sadly for posters like Molly all the headlines read Scotland, not "SNP members keeping a dying ideology alive". This is what leads to independence support rising, albeit for different reasons, South as well as North of the border.
Is fine by me. Thank you Kevin Hague/BBC/most Scottish newspapers and all those other media outlets who just love a Scottish deficit. :rotfl:It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

SNP very quiet at the moment apart from the impending by election in Shetland. I dont blame them. Between Boris, GERS and hard Brexits they hardly need do much other than sit back and watch the polling for independence rise.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

When Scots receive circa £1600 per head extra public sector spending than the UK average, its entirely valid to focus on Scotland I'm afraid.
I live in a region that is subsidised by London and South East, the difference is of course that my subsidy is considerably less generous than yours.
While we wait for the gradual re balance you talk of, I've put my kids through underfunded English schools and am now in the process of dealing with my elderly parents and the chronically underfunded English adult social care system.
I don't wish to worry you, but the English funding injustice is gaining traction down here and if Westminster does not sort it, its goodbye Union.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

I’m not sure they’re being that quiet when there’s daubing SNP on war memorials to do.THE bitter Holyrood byelection campaign in Shetland has hit a new low with vandals spraypainting “SNP” on the Lerwick war memorial.
