When the Tory Leavers see any failing in the EU they magnify it 1000 times and dance with glee like evil little schadenfreude monkeys on the EU thread.

When Shakey does the same thing about the UK here she is a 'nasty Nat'.

    Double standards much?

I’m not sure they’re being that quiet when there’s daubing SNP on war memorials to do.

do you genuinely really and seriously believe or expect anyone else to believe it was a SNP supporter that did that ? The fact that for the first time ever the SNP have a chance of maybe winning this seat ( and dont think they will btw) and one of their supporters goes and defaces a war memorial ... that sounds awfy dodgy to me

Yes, I think some SNP supporters are stupid enough to do it.

Well yes, they can't join the Euro until they join the EU. Which obviously will be some years post independence. Firstly, because any hypothetically independent Scotland will need a few years to transition from GBP to SCP, secondly because they will likely need a few more years to issue a pile of SCP denominated debt to repay their GBP debt. And of course they will need to reduce the fiscal deficit from its current level of 7% of GDP ( the highest in the EU), down to something a little more acceptable.

Now I know that certain people don't believe that such numbers are correct, so it's worthwhile noting that Derek Mackay, the Scottish finance secretary,

confirmed that the Gers data, which covers all UK and Scottish government spending in Scotland and a share of pan-UK spending on areas such as defence, overseas aid and debt reduction, was an accurate assessment of the country’s fiscal position last year.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/aug/21/scotland-2018-deficit-higher-than-uk-as-a-whole-last-year

So there we have it, the SNP administration has confirmed that GERS is accurate, and that Scotland has a whacking big fiscal deficit. Nothing more to argue about as far as that is concerned.:)
The SNP top brass almost never question GERS figures. It's everyone else as they have become more and more a political tool. In the face of med shortages and job losses after leaving the Single Market they'll mean nothing going forward.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

We don't get along as parts of the UK politically anymore. Its nothing personal. Simple as that really.

Anymore? Don't you even know your own political party's history......

But it's a moot point anyway.

Brexit turns out to be better than feared, Scotland leaving UK makes the average Scot poorer than their rUK counterpart.

Brexit turns out worse than expected Scotland leaving UK still leaves the average Scot poorer than their rUK counterpart.

SNP, the only people campaiging to actively bring a worse life to their electorate. Blinding them with spin and propaganda rather than promoting the economic argument for independence.

On that basis, I don't think a bit of mild antipathy on an internet forum for someone who would happily see 6 million people poorer is too misplaced :)

ps If anyone does want to explain how services will be paid for, what currency we will use etc, ect, ect, the NO voters who won the once in a generation referendum are still all ears. :)

No double standards Indi Ref lost but Brexit won.

Shakey's arguments are based on a fantasy. Brexit is based on a result.

Problems which will have Scots voters begging Sturgeon to hold a ref asap in order to escape from.
Still mixing up Scots voters with Nationalists. Anyway, are the polls not about the same as they were just before the last referendum ? Sturgeon's rhetoric is just trying to keep her supporters / raving nats on side. There is no way she is daft enough to try for another vote at the moment, way too risky as she would be out on her !!!! just like Alex.

Blackford was nearly wetting himself on TV this morning at the thought of disrupting the UK Parliament.
