There have been only three (very long running) Scottish based threads since 2011, eight years ago. When they hit 10,000 posts they were replaced by a new one like the Brexit ones. I didn't start the first two. This is the only thread I've ever started on this forum.

Labman or whatever his latest Lab incarnation is trolls this thread constantly calling me stupid and idiotic for starting my one thread here. I have no idea why, and it's the only comment he/she ever makes. I may get round to reporting him/her at some point for doing so.

Hope this clears up any confusion.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Don't they have television in Scotland? I only ask because it looks as if the news about climate change has been delivered by a rider on horseback who has only just arrived about a week late. Anything for a bit of publicity but it is quite a good idea to keep up to date.

Shakethedisease - I don't think you understand how UK law works. Sturgeon can write whatever guff she likes into Scottish law, there is no need for any court challenge because it doesn't supersede UK law. Scotland needs permission for another referendum.

Salmond tried his very best to rig the last vote from the off, from the deliberate choice of date to a biased question that was slapped down by the electoral commission alongside all the lies about EU transition, keeping the pound etc.

The fact is, poll after poll from June 2016 to April 2019, collated by the What Scotland Thinks website link has consistently showed a lead for no. 11th November 2017 was the last time yes/no were tied and 6 March 2017 was the only time since the EU vote that Yes was leading and yet you're relying on a single poll with a 1% lead for No to try and portray a trend? Please. No has been leading by 6-12 points for 2 years

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No. It's you who doesn't understand. Sorry.
Sub-nationally, the United Kingdom has three legal systems, each of which derives from a particular geographical area and for a variety of historical reasons: English law, Scots law, and Northern Ireland law
There is no "UK Law". Because Scotland kept it's own legal system in 1707. The referendum legislation will be written into Scottish law starting next week. The UK Govt will no doubt challenge and the media will get all hysterical about it. It's legislation that has NEVER been tested thus far, and any of us predicting any legal outcome are simply speculating. However, it's the very fact of a challenge from a Tory led UK Govt which will boost things for Yes. I do hope it's Boris Johnson led, what a dream scenario.

I'm portraying nothing apart from posting it here for you all to see, digest and discuss. It's relevant to the thread. I know the site What Scotland Thinks well, and I know Scottish polling too. None of it really matters until the end few weeks of a campaign.

By all means keep posting and contesting about what Scotland may or may not be 'allowed' or 'given permisson for' by a majority of English and Tory MP's. I rather think Nicola Sturgeon and the rest of us are very much counting on it. Do keep going.
So to recap on @thetimesscot/@YouGov set of Scotland polls (26 April 2019) ahead of #SNP19:
    First/second place: Holyrood: SNP 46% CON 22%

    Westminster: SNP 43% CON 20%

    European: SNP 40% LAB 14%

    YES 49% NO 51%
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

After the Brexit debacle. Be interesting to see how people view Scotland being able to decouple itself from England.

I'm sure it's just a slip of the keyboard and you really meant to write rest of UK ( rUK) and not England ...

Yes I joined in 2015, the year before you started this thread ie a year when the previous thread was on the go so I do have memory of it. I don't know what point you're trying to make but you've failed yet again.
