55Mn people are responsible for £13Bn
10Mn people are responsible for £36Bn ?
The English Deficit figures above compared to Wales, NI and Scotland are obviously pure fiction. I suspect the figures are arrived at because there are never any real separate figures for England. It's always UK v's Scotland/Wales or NI. Which is an unfair comparison to make for obvious reasons. Hague does it all the time too. As well as completely ignoring possible Brexit consequences in his 'facts'.
“Pure fiction” Why?
Why is it so unfathomable for you to contemplate that 10m UK citizens can be responsible for so much of the U.K. deficit?
In the rarefied climes of austerity free Scotland, I don’t think you realise the level of cuts that England has endured.
I suspect you won’t debunk the Kevin Hague claims, simply because you can’t.
Feel free to carry on your personal delusion.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Nicely selective.
I thought that this was a thread to discuss Scotland though. There's no disputing that England has problems. In our area a direct result of population growth. Something Scotland hasn't had to experience on the same scale. Without the tax revenues generated by inner London from a variety of sources we'd all be in do-do.
I'm still interested to see the SNP grow Scotland economically at a reasonable pace. For the benefit of the country as a whole. No interest in political mud slinging. Merkel's fall from grace shows that even the mighty make mistakes. That are impossible to recover from.0 -
I'm curious to know what is Sturgeon's current stance on a further referendum. Does she want one or not?
She seemed to want another referendum on the UK leaving the EU with a choice of leaving with a deal, leaving without one or staying in the EU.
This is quite intriguing because if she won a referendum on Scotland leaving the UK, would she then come back a couple of years later wanting another referendum on leaving the UK with a deal, leaving without one or remaining in the UK?
Thought not.0 -
Can anyone tell the people of Scotland where the independent Scotland SNP money tree is located?0

Well according to ElNATan she has a cunning plan...St Nic's cunning plan for Indy Ref 1 worked out how well?
...shakey just ignores the facts as always.0 -

Somewhere in the Trossachs I believe. Naturally, its exact location is kept secret, for fear that the dreaded sassenachs will transplant it to Kew Gardens or somewhere similar, and harvest the rewards for themselves.0 -

So there is no evidence that the Indy Ref 1 vote was lost by the SNP?

However, trying to superimpose regional figures such as GERS and pretending they are anything like comparable to an independent country's figures is lunacy.
The SNP thinks otherwise, its published post independence fiscal projections are based on GERS.
Are you telling us that the SNP are lunatics?
GERS is compiled by statisticians and economists in the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser of the Scottish Government. The Scottish Government's Chief Statistician takes responsibility for this publication.
https://www2.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Economy/GERS
GERS shows that, since 1998-99, Scotland has accumulated fiscal deficits after including a geographical share of North Sea revenues amounting to £171,202 bn, or 14.23% of the UK total. Scotland has 8.3% of the UK population. Do the math.:)
Naturally therefore, the starting point in any hypothetical independence negotiations will be for Scotland to take on a 14.23% share of the UK total national debt. About £260 bn or thereabouts I'd say. With any luck, those SNP lunatics who believe the numbers from GERS won't have any say in this, and wiser folk such as Shakey will be in charge and simply sign their names on the dotted line. (I might even be inclined to let them off stumping up for RBS for that kind of result.)
Now, I'm not saying this will quite make the rest of us rich, but it'll probably solve the problem of funding the NHS and social care for a generation. Although it might be wise for us to factor in the future costs of refugee camps along the border, food aid and the like. Unfortunately, we won't be able to deny access to these economic migrants, or rely on the EU much at all. As there is no way on this planet that the EU are going to offer membership to a state with a fiscal deficit in excess of 7% and a debt-GDP ratio in excess of 150% without confirmed scientific proof that the money tree is indeed about to bear fruit. So it'll be down to us to provide the succour.0 -

Kevin Hague et al have wrung every last drop out of them. But even you admit these are only the very beginning and starting point for negotiations should Scotland vote for independence. Never a reason not to vote for it in the first place. The argument that Scotland's really crap economic performance as part of the UK with Westminster running the show... is a really good reason to remain within the UK was never going to last forever.
The rest of your post re refugee camps/EU etc was wishful thinking mixed with nonsensical waffle. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
