    Nicely selective. ;)

I thought that this was a thread to discuss Scotland though. There's no disputing that England has problems. In our area a direct result of population growth. Something Scotland hasn't had to experience on the same scale. Without the tax revenues generated by inner London from a variety of sources we'd all be in do-do.

I'm still interested to see the SNP grow Scotland economically at a reasonable pace. For the benefit of the country as a whole. No interest in political mud slinging. Merkel's fall from grace shows that even the mighty make mistakes. That are impossible to recover from.
The SNP will remain in power in Scotland as long as they are the only political route to independence. However, more recently we've been observing independence support starting to detach from the SNP as a political party in day to day politics. Polling showing that while independence support remains at 45% ( plus or minus a % or two )... SNP support is now much lower than that. Conflation of SNP/Independence support is no longer quite so entwined as it was in 2014/15..

Theresa needs to bring back her deal and lay it out on the table. The SNP will have to move quickly after that to call a Scottish only vote and use the mandate they have in some form which relates to independence/Single Market membership. If they don't call a vote then they will lose their core support in droves... and they know it.

The SNP right now are in total stasis (like everyone else) until we know what shape Brexit might take. No one can grow an economy with devolved powers at any sort of reasonable pace anyway. Most of the main levers are held elsewhere and even the levers Holyrood has are under threat of being overruled at any point at any time.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Kevin Hague et al have wrung every last drop out of them. But even you admit these are only the very beginning and starting point for negotiations should Scotland vote for independence. Never a reason not to vote for it in the first place. The argument that Scotland's really crap economic performance as part of the UK with Westminster running the show... is a really good reason to remain within the UK was never going to last forever.

Is anyone suggesting that Scotland economic performance is crap?
I think Kevin Hague is merely putting forward the theory that Scotland has a predilection for higher public spending.
If I recall correctly KH even acknowledged that income per capita in Scotland was broadly in line with the U.K. average.
Scotland contributes to UK Plc just like every other nation and region of the UK, it just per capita gets a lot more back.
It would help if you and the SNPwould just admit the fact.

Did anyone see the pics circulating the internet yesterday of Nicola chatting to a homeless person? allegedly she tried to do it privately but someone recognised her and took the pic. I noticed she only had one person with her ( that was in the pic anyway) it got me wondering ... Would Theresa do that? would she risk it I wonder

Last weekend, in Belgium, the convoy carrying Theresa and the Belgian PM, Louis Michel, got involved in an accident and two policemen got knocked off their bike.
Mr Michel, who is a keen motorcylist, is said to have got out to check on the men but Mrs May stayed in her vehicle.

I think that answers your question.

Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

I think it would be a little unsafe to get out of a moving vehicle.

Further down the article you quoted
Mrs May's car was ahead, was not involved in the accident and continued driving.
so unless she'd got the driver to turn the vehicle around, or reverse....
  • Who knows?

But for a "Random act of Kindness" Nicola Sturgeon has her picture all over Facebook and done very well out of it!

An opinion poll this week by Survation found that given the chance, 60% of voters would vote to remain in the UK.

    BTW. Where's shakey?
