Did you vote leave ? If so ... Why ?
Sorry, what has that got to do with this? It'll take us massively off topic. You could just search this forum for posts by me for that.
In a nutshell I want the UK to be able to do its own trade deals. As part of the EU, we're unable to do that.
I'll head off the "That's why I want Scotland to be independent" response by saying: By voting for independence via an EU ref, SNP inspired indy ref 2 you are in effect voting to becoming independent just to join the EU.0 -
No I don't think it does take us off topic at all ... in fact I would suggest it is part of the same subject ... I may be wrong as I don't know many people that voted to leave, but my understanding is many voted as they felt they were being governed by the someone other than their choosing... independence in Scotland very much relates to that
So if you voted leave ... why ? I'm not going to chase you all over MSE as I feel that's unfair, but I am curious to know
I think in an independent Scotland we may in years to come vote to leave the EU ... we may vote to become a Republic ... we may not vote for these things but Atleast if we do choose to vote for these things the wishes of the majority of voters is what will happen ... just now that is not the case
And we won't have a house of Lords ... that's gotta be worth celebrating alone imo0 -

Well I did vote leave, primarily for the reason I gave above, which is a result of ceding powers away to Brussels.
But with regards to Scotland this is the situation you face if there was indyref2 with regards to sovereignty :
- stay in the UK which is devolving power to Scotland but remain outside of the EU. Keep 8.6% of the populace voice within the UK parliament (this is more than you should have based on the size of the Scottish population).
- leave the UK and join the EU by re-applying. Might have to take the Euro, will need to cede some powers to Brussels having just gained others from the UK. Suffer a reduced share of the vote in the EU parliament (1.8%). Be a part of an organisation which is centralising power not devolving it. Rock and a hard place, neither give you true independence. Which is worse?
As much as you might hate having the House of Lords, it's imperative to have a 2nd body that puts in place checks and balances on proposals from the House of Commons. I'd prefer if it was more like a senate that was elected, but it's certainly better than not having anything at all.0 -
So you want to take powers away from Brussel's so that the people of UK can govern themselves... but you don't want Scotland to have the ability to govern itself .... interesting ... you I spose then are a British Nationalist ... a Seperatist and Nationalist ...
Welcome to the party0 -

You've completely ignored what's on offer.
In 2014 Scotland was asked if it wanted to be independent of the UK. The Scottish people said no.
In the near future you might be asked again if you want Scotland to be independent on the basis that Scotland should remain a member of the EU.
They are two different questions.0 -

And you seem to have completely ignored the fact you are a nationalist ...0
