Just SNP gesture politics as usual. The original policy was supportive as it would be good for Scotland but that would be agreeing with the UK government and they don't want to be seen doing that.

If I where Scottish the extra runway for Heathrow would be close to the last straw. The London centric British Government is actually an English Government.

Scotland and Northern Ireland (perhaps Wales) should join the ROI. It can not be worse than being ignored by London 24 hours 7 days a week.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

The SNP were voting for is to that Scotland would get more money due to Barnett Consequentials - that way The Scottish Government would increase spend on Prestwick.

If the SNP didn't want it they would have voted against it and not abstained.

The south east is short of runway capacity whereas Scotland is not. Only the hard of thinking could connect a new Heathrow runway with Scottish independence.

Richard Branson is proposing a system of vacuum transport that could literally propel Scots at hypersonic speeds through tubes and apparently credibly connect all the UK's airports together as one airport with different terminals.

And they'll moan about that and all.

Precisely, a new runway at Heathrow (or anywhere close to London) would enable more flights to Scotland to use up all that excess capacity. Prestwick is currently costing something in the region of £30M to keep running with very few commercial flights, it is mostly used as a military refuelling stop.

    Only if there's the demand.

Scot Nat MPs demanded 100 slots. When they were given 200, they objected. We can't have Westminster being given credit for generosity to the Nats, can we?
