So far out that these sorts of polls given whats about to happen inbetween ( Brexit etc ) totally meaningless.

Other than that independence support in polling seems to be holding up pretty well

    Really !

I've currently in Catalonia, it's quite interesting indy wise, Barcelona where we spent several days a week or so ago has Si flags everywhere, we didn't hang about any of the tourist areas Instead we took the metro to the end of the line and walked back, many many more Si flags than I ever imagined.

Now we are just out of Salou ( another holiday ) this time we are in tourist central ( I'm hating it ... but that's another story) nothing, nadda , zilch. .. you wouldn't know there was any concept of Independence going on ... it might be something to do with the fact there are not many Spanish here ...

But it is one very stark contrast to our Barcelona trip

Phoned son he I formed me roughly 1500 at Glasgow, it was a hope over fear rally,

Yes. The next Holyrood party political election is not until 2021. The s**t is going to hit the fan, for everyone (regardless of party political affliatons) due to Brexit in the next year or so.
Rising number of Scots support staying in EU, poll says

The Panelbase survey for The Sunday Times puts backing for remaining in the bloc at 65%, up from 61% in January.
It also found 50% of Scots think Brexit will leave Scotland's economy weaker, while 24% believe it will strengthen it and 26% think it will make little difference.

While the Daily Mail try and make hay out of polls trying to predict political events four years from now. Polling closer to actual and happening events are much more enlightening. And even these seem to be improving for the SNP especially Westminster wise. Which is nice, but hopefully won't be relevant for the next Westminster GE.
Panelbase Westminster poll in today's Sunday Times: SNP 41 (+4)
    Con 27 (-2)
    Lab 24 (-3)
    Lib 6 (-1)
Green 2 (+2) Changes since June.

I can see why you're getting a little rattled Shaka. Indy support is holding solid, and the SNP seem to be on a modest road to recovery after a breather. Just need a few more months of the spotlight on Brexit and the Tories should have Davidson thinking of resigning. :p
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Independence shouldn't be feared ... it's natural, most countries do it ... in fact being ruled by a neighbour is not normal ..

Interesting piece here about a study by the Edinburgh Geological Society of North Sea oil.

The North Sea oil industry is entering its final decade of production ... only around 10 per cent of the UK's original recoverable oil and gas remains untapped.

So perhaps the price of Brent Crude no longer matters in terms of financing this hypothetical independent Scotland, because there won't be any oil left.

P.S. No doubt someone else will have a different opinion.

Wow. There must be a couple of private indy polls floating about showing a sharp increase in support. Only reason I can think of for the likes of the Telegraph, Scotsman, STV to be recycling and punting this tired old crap to Scots readers. And you're right, there are those with differing opinions. Mainly those putting their money where their mouths are. File the above Telegraph piece under 'T' for total b*****ks.

The North Sea Is Suddenly, Surprisingly, an Oil Hot Spot

Deals, private-equity and newly producing fields are instilling a sense of confidence in a region once seen in decline

After almost a decade of decline, the North Sea energy industry is experiencing a flurry of deal activity. Major oil players say they are looking at growth in the area, and private-equity funds have built up war chests totaling $15 billion for North Sea acquisitions.

The deal was a sign major oil companies are still willing to invest significant amounts in the region, where confidence is reviving as oil prices stabilize and costs come down. Many are refocusing on relatively new areas.

Catalonia and Scotland are two very different matters, I had assumed you were intelligent enough to understand this, I was obviously wrong

I think though you should be more concerned about the treatment by a government of its people

    "Ruled"! :)
Scotland is a fully franchised partner in a Union it volunteered to join just a couple of short centuries ago. Scotland is free to leave when ever enough Scots decide they've had enough.
