  • Then some wonder why some leaders don't want to debate on TV.
Pretty much the whole thing was a farce from start to finish.

Any way ........... since you like photo's then, try this one?

Shortly afterwards, Joanna Cherry told BBC Scotland the nurse was believed to be the wife of a Tory councillor. She later tweeted an apology, after it emerged that Ms Austin is unmarried.

    Oops.
Well she's not married to a Tory councillor. However, she was specifically invited to the leaders debate to ask a question on devolved matters after being in the QT audience the week before. This isn't a Scottish GE, and it's getting more than a bit wearing having to rerun last years Scottish GE during a Westminster one. I switched off.

However both the Sun and the Daily Record now have stories on this lady holding aloft glasses of Moet, spending New Year in New York dining at the 5* Plaza, as well as various pics of her in 5* establishments quaffing back fizz.. also reporting that her daughter appears to attend private school and owns a horse ( ! ).. I have no idea of this lady's personal circumstances, but she doesn't quite fit the profile of someone dependent on food banks.
Foodbank' nurse who put Nicola Sturgeon on spot in TV debate pictured enjoying lavish trip to New York

Pictures of Claire Austin enjoying champagne at the five-star New York Plaza Hotel have emerged after she told Sturgeon she "can't manage" on her wages...It is believed that the nurse works for private healthcare firm BUPA and sent her daughter to George Heriot's School in Edinburgh. Other Twitter posts show her at a plush Foodies Festival and asking Philip Schofield where he bought his Cotes Des Provence rose wine.

But there is no justification for the kind of ambush that Nicola Sturgeon suffered last night.

..there is no room for “fake news”.
Last night’s TV debate was dominated by the image of a hardworking nurse who has been left on the breadline by the Government. However, that image appears to be untrue, going by Ms Austin’s social media posts. But the mud from last night will stick to Ms Sturgeon — and that isn’t fair.

On a different note, isn't Ruth really crap and shouty when she's put under pressure.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Ruth didn't do too well last night Shaka, I think you know that really. Just as well they have this nurse story to distract from her performance as well as the overall Tory implosion happening today I suppose.

    Ah, yet again.
We can't let a little thing like the truth get in the way of lies and propaganda can we, Shakey.
Read the BBC link I posted, it was updated just 30 minutes ago.
Her appearance sparked speculation on social media about her relationship to a Conservative councillor, and her personal circumstances. Some of these posts were retweeted by a number of senior SNP politicians, including MSPs and general election candidates, before later being deleted.
In addition to the online criticism, The Scottish Sun published photographs which it said showed Ms Austin drinking champagne and enjoying "swanky meals".
Ruth Davidson, the leader of the Scottish Conservatives, said: "There was a public sector worker in Scotland who was challenging the first minister of Scotland and the first minister's team was running around behind the scenes trying to smear the person who was asking the question, as it it was illegitimate of her to ask it.
"Now the SNP has got form on this. We don't accept bullying in our culture and we should not accept it."
Nor should we accept smearing and bullying in this forum.
Though you don't seem averse do you Shakey - in fact you encourage it.
That's the SNP way, you see.
Divide and (fail to) conquer. ;)

I have no idea like I say about this lady's personal circumstances. But if she has gone onto National TV to lie about being dependent on using foodbanks, and given her recent social media posts which newspapers have alluded to, she certainly has some questions to answer over who referred her... I think she's deserves all the scrutiny she's getting from journo's in order to find out what the real story is here. Is certainly very weird indeed that the BBC felt the need to invite her on, a week after already being invited to the Question Time audience in order to ask a question which bears no relation whatsoever to a Westminster election.

She also seemed unaware that 1) Nicola isn't an MP 2) that Scottish nurses are paid better than elsewhere in the UK. A strange episode all round. Forgotten about in a few days when the next round of polling comes out and the SNP manifesto hits the tomorrow.

    Are you saying I'm a bully ?

In your eyes of course she didn't. We will see what the voters think at the end of the day.

She's a nurse who earns around £22000 a year and cricises the SNP for their administration of the NHS in Scotland. And what happens? She gets trashed by the SNP attack dogs for whom any criticism of their management of devolved services in Scotland is unaccepatable.

And all you can do in response is to come out with a 'no smoke without fire' line. Shame on you.
