Nah, those who live in England can't vote for them, nor independence. What the English 'feel' in terms of voting or politics towards the SNP or Scottish independence is therefore, completely irrelevant. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Agreed on that one. I'd prefer the UK to remain as it is, but I can understand why Scotland would want out now. I think it might even be an opportunity for them to become home to any businesses that needed to leave the UK if it can't get EFTA terms. Sturgeon needs to accept a few things though, not least, Scotland can't have the pound."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

What the English feel towards the SNP just isn't a factor. It's what the Scots feel about them that matters since they're the people that will decide.
The SNP is nothing to do with England. Sorry, the clue is in the name.
The decision when and if it comes is undoubtedly down to Scots, but sorry to disappoint you but the attitude of the English toward Scots has serious ramifications for the SNP within or outside of the Union.
I`m imagining the tenor of any negotiations between the British State and Sturgeon in the event of independence, especially if that independence was gained by the SNP taking advantage of the political instability caused by a Brexit.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Scotland can have the pound should they want it. But not a currency union. Best not to confuse the two.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Anti-SNP feeling is now widespread in England and just like the last GE there is real political capital to be had in antipathy toward Scottish Nationalism. There`s a febrile atmosphere in England at the moment and Salmond got a taste of that on QT tonight. Sturgeon would do well to shut her trap for a week or two till things calm down a bit, she won`t like us if we get really angry.Keep on poking the English hornets nest Alex and Nicola......you`ll lose! The decision when and if it comes is undoubtedly down to Scots, but sorry to disappoint you but the attitude of the English toward Scots has serious ramifications for the SNP within or outside of the Union.
By English do you mean English and Welsh, or English and Welsh and Northern Irish? Are you implying they are all the same? You appear to be conflating them all into one home nationality, which actually explains quite a lot about your attitude. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Brexit was brought about by the Conservatives and UKIP. Of course *sarcasm* the SNP should be made to pay for that. Wake up and grow up a little bit. The current situation is entirely due to policies and votes elsewhere than in Scotland. We voted for the 'status quo' this time round. Don't try dragging the Scots in as convenient scapegoats for any political instability. This one is purely down the the English and Welsh. Excuse us if we don't join you in the turmoil.
Brexit was brought about by the British people inc. Scots. As usual you're talking about Scotland as if were an independent state already.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Interesting. We've been discussing Scotland and the rUK but that's quite a few posts where you've been talking about specifically the English seeing Scots as a problem. Has the reverse ever been suggested on here, that the Scots see the English as a problem?

I think you're reading into it too much. I`m talking as an English person living in England and that can be my only point of reference really.
I could make stuff up about how the Welsh and Northern Irish feel if that would help.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
