I don;t know if anywhere else does these mental health courses but i'd honestly recommend them. Week 5 and i've learnt quite a bit. Tpday was stress. what is is, how we deal with it etc. We talked about making a soothing box for when you're stressed, i;ve decided im going to make one next week, fill it with bath bombs, face masks, a book, a toy, chocolate cards from family etc. Feel really bad for the lass from group, somone tried to burn her flat down at the weekend and shes understandbly shook up, im glad she came today though cos she said it helped.
Had a big chat with Swain about money and with him explaining it i do feel better about it. 2 years and i should have my debt paid off and enough for us to move in together, 8 years and i should have tons of savings and our own houseHe broke it down for me, and told me saving £40 a week will add up quickly. I need to look into getting my bus pass back as that would saveme £88 a month! Thats over a grand just on savinf bus fare, plus its a 5 year pass i think that thats nearly £5000 i could potentially save! Madness!
Still feeling anxious over PIP, not got a descison yet. Its been 4 weeks since the medical. Which i keep getting flashbacks to. I've been having panic attacks every night because its stressing me out so muchthankfully felt a bit better with swain but im back at mine though so i'll see how tonight goes.

Dandy, there's no need to apologise for moaning. Could you make a list which puts things in order of how much they stress you out and then ask DH to take on the ones which are causing you the biggest problem?
I know you said that he's stressed as well because he wants you to deal with everything but how anxious you are must be worrying him so hopefully trying to reduce your anxiety would lower his stress levels too.
MU, I'm glad your course is going well and I hope you get an answer on your PIP soon.0 -
Was at doctors today due to my weak feeling the last few weeks (since it got colder) was suprised to hear the doctor say she had my flu jab ready and she thought that was the reason why I was attending!
Turns out due to my weight she gave me it, interesting though.
Still tired as she said my throat and ears were fine and its probably another virus I have0 -
Dandy don;t know if it will help but somthing we went through at group yesterday may help.
The idea is you wrote down your problem, then you make a list of all the possible solutions. The example we had yesterday was opening post, we had a range of answers varying fro getting someone to open it for you to letting the dog eat it! Then we rated them in terms ofg actual usefullness, so the dog bit got a 1, and getting someone to help got a 4. It helps you look at possible solutions. It might help to break down each stessfull thing, and go though options for each of them. Like i said not sure of would help but hopefully it might? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Sometimes when I visit Elderly Relative she is paranoid, telling me that Mabel has brought in poisoned biscuits or that 'they' have poured noxious substances down her throat (not completely accurate details so she is not identifiable in real life). Anyway, I absolutely know without a doubt that the scenarios she comes up are not true. I don't know what to say though. She isn't like it all the time and she does know who I am, and also other accurate recent events. She gets upset (angry rather than afraid) if I try to reassure her and is too stubborn to be distracted. Any ideas what may help? Should I just politely leave and revisit another time in the hope that she would sleep it off? I don't mind staying if it would help her but I am never sure how much me being there makes it worse.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

My great aunt is similar, it got to the point where for a while my mum couldn't bear talking to her as she used to make up stuff about my grandparents (stuff my mum knew wasn't true but was upsetting to hear). Shes gotten slightly better, my mum does talk to her now but she tries to keep my aunt focused on stuff rather than let her mind wander, and if she says something my mum knows isnt true my mum will correct her then try and change the subject.
I got the PIP letter. I've got it till 2020feeling beyond relived

WW - I'd normally deal with something like that by being fairly non-committal and changing the subject but if she's too stubborn for that to work I don't really know what to suggest. If she was saying that someone had brought her poisoned biscuits I would probably offer to take them off her hands though

I'm so happy that the PIP thing's resolved. It must make it so much easier to plan reducing debts/moving in with Swain now that you know.0 -

Annoyed at my friend, his overall personality is quite lethargic and he can be quite lazy, I did tell him years ago to go for autism assessment and he turned up and was referred on but didn't chase it up as it was "too much effort" story of his life really I assume its all down to likely being autistic, but he frustates me a lot.
He takes a lot of things literally or doesn't understand, 2 weeks ago I bought some nice cakes and mentioned to him when he turned up for our weekly take away, A minute later I heard rustling and he was eating them.
Somehow me mentioning I had them made him think I was offering him to buy them off me!!
Thats the sort of personality he has, hes not being intentional but he struggles to understand things.
Yesterday I mentioned our weekly take away as he has moved 2 miles away and he said "oh I will get a few cans and stay at yours" I said no, and i'd prefer to get a pint at pub around corner from his new place on Saturday as he was getting spares cut that day and I could get one from him then.
He didn't turn up, nor come online till a few minutes ago and he thought me mentioning the drink tomorrow meant the takeaway tonight was cancelled!
Didnt even say sorry just went "oh I thought thats what you meant, and I was tired and you live 2 miles away so assumed you realised"
By the way his room in his old flat was shocking when he moved! the corner of the wall where his tv was had dust from the ceiling down to floor and I lived in that same flat for 2 and a half years and carpet looked almost new when I moved out, right now it looks black with dust and walked in dirt!
He hadn't hoovered once in 8 and a half months since he moved in (and wonders why he has dry/sore eyes all the time!)0
