  • Two of the databases minimise and the windows disappear when I click something else. One won't shrink either. That one is deadly.
Sounds like terrible user interface design, so I'm guessing a bespoke system rather than commercial software (because no-one would buy software that bad off the shelf). Doesn't help you though.

To be honest where I work we'd just buy a graphics card with two outputs (about £30), another screen (£60) and spend the 10 minutes installing the card and set it up if it was going to improve someone's productivity a lot. I can't imagine it would be that easy in the public sector though.

I probably shouldn't mention that I have three screens attached to my computers :rotfl:(both at work and at home)

GN - might be a stupid question but is exporting the information you need directory from databases to a spreadsheet an option? Might be easier to work with on one monitor.

I'm interviewing tomorrow for my old job. I feel odd about it though - I'm interviewing with people I worked with for 8 years, including the manager who is partly why I left in the first place, so they know exactly what I'm like, so any attempt at the usual interview nonsense is utterly pointless and embarrassing. I still haven't heard from HR about the pay supplement, so I don't even know if this is a total waste of everyone's time. How do I even prepare for this? Why am I even bothering?

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes. Three fairly bespoke and non-commercial programs which, because of data protection concerns won't allow me to export data.

The best I can manage is to print a partial list of some of the information I need and work from that as I plough on through the two other databases.

Still. I'm going to learn how to mail merge tomorrow....:rotfl:
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

Welcome back WaS, sorry to hear january so far has not been going well, wishing toy a speedy recovery and hoping the depression eases soon.

Today i did a scary thing. Work were looking for people to volunteer to go to a Equality and Diversity focus group, tthey want people of different races/sexualities/disabilities to go and let them know what the company can do to promote equality and diversity. So i signed up!

I've seen varying statistics on how many people with mental health problems are in employed work and its shockingly low. I feel many are denied the chance to work, and that with the right adjustments and training many more could have the opportunity to work. Most want to be are unable to due to factors like discrimination and stigma. So if i can offer any opinions on how they could change that and give more people a chance then i'm happy to brave it.

From what i;ve read ony about 40% of people with a mental illness were in employment despite 67% of people surveyed (who were out of work)saying they wanted to be employed, Clearly there is a long way to go

Well done MU. That's very brave of you. We need more people with MH conditions to step forward. I probably need to be more brave myself.

Didn't get much sleep last night so of course, am tired now and I have that interview. Still don't know what to do, but think I'll go along, hear why they have to say and make a decision if I need to. . Are you guys bored of me moaning and being indecisive about work? You must be. Sorry.

    MU, very well done.

code, best of luck. No, I am not fed up of your posts at all. I hope you feel clearer about what to do once today has ended.

I spent yesterday in bed and have no choice but to go to work. DH has also had to go to work, having been off sick. My head hurts but medicine should help. My nose is getting bunged up, but fortunately only one nostril at a time so I can breathe. My eyes are sore from lack of sleep. I am really looking forward to getting home and putting me pyjamas on!

Littlewing was Star of the Week last week. She is so happy about it. She is working hard but also having a wonderful time with friends. She knows she is loved and that is so important.

  • Well done on volunteering MU :)

code, not bored. At least you're able to express it here, rather than doing what I do and internalize everything. Best wishes for today.
