Urgh how annoying. I feel like I'm being annoying today because I keep swallowing hard as I've got a sore throat, and the noise is audible
I also can't find a backpack I like. *sulk*

There's a visitor in today who is sitting at the desk opposite me (so about 2' away, at most). I swear she is the loudest breather I've ever heard.... it's like trying to work with Darth Vader in your face
Maybe she's asthmatic, or has emphysema.
My breathing has been noisier than usual since the chest infection.
There was one time a few years ago when I was a bit wheezy, and a close relative said " oh for goodness' sake, stop breathing!" like I had a choice, or was doing it on purpose.(I just lurve spiders!)

Goodbye, goodbye
(Not your fault, WaS; avoid the news)
We are all ill, birthday parties and exercise classes being cancelled as everyone has the same bug. Full of sticky mucus that won't go down or out plus a sore throat.
Other than this, things are good (for January).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I've got a part time job through my organisation's temporary staffing office.
I never thought I'd say this, but I miss my old job.
Specifically, I miss dual screens. I miss being able to copy and paste data between windows without maximising and minimising at least one window every berluddy time.
Producing a single table from information sourced from three different programs meant literally hours of clicking and minimising, then clicking and maximising, then clicking and minimising and and and and.
Two sodding tables took all of four and a half hours today.
I sent the email, got a new security card and had a bite to eat. But spent most of the five hours today, clicking, looking at something, memorising it, clicking and typing it in elsewhere. Copy and paste not possible for two of the databases.
Tomorrow, how to produce a set of mail merged address labels using Word, without a single master document, having to update addresses on two different databases by opening a third and sorting the addressees by DOB and using folders of individually addressed label sheets which may need corrections and/or updating.
Open first folder of labels, open two different databases. Open first Word document. Click. Minimise. Click. Maximise. Click. Minimise. Click. Maximise. Click. Minimise....... Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Can you not change the size of the 'maximised' screen and the word screen so that they both are in front of you? (I assume dual screens are different) and code or lambyr or someone will probably know what I mean better than I do.
It will still be a pain, but maybe it would allow you to retype quicker than copy and paste?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Still reading along and wishing you all well!
Update of January so far-
WaSp and I both picked up a bug involving constant coughing and vomiting.
I had a 4 day migraine.
I had the worst period you could possibly imagine.
I am feeling very depressed, chemically so.
I have now injured my back putting salad in the fridge and can barely move.

When you say 'had', does that mean your migraine and period are now over? *feeble cheer*
Big cuddles to you both.
I guess it is reassuring that you know millefleur will be being looked after while you are both poorly. I am trying to find some bright points.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. <Makes note to try Alt-Tab tomorrow>
Two of the databases minimise and the windows disappear when I click something else. One won't shrink either. That one is deadly.
Log out and log back in for what it deems too many times and I have to reboot the computer to open it again. Leave it open too long and it automatically times out. So I log in again. So it times out again and if it's that last time, close everything down and reboot.
It is not user friendly. At. All. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Good luck with Alt-Tab, Gingernutty. I must experiment more with this as well. On my computer, if you have 2 windows open in non-max size, you can drag one to each side of the screen and have a split screen that way....
WaS, sooooo sorry you have had such a rotten January so farIt can only get better! xxxx
