I've just transferred the contents of my Cath Kidston open tote bag into a similar New Look bag.

The side pocket zip is torn and if I clean it out and pass it on to a charity shop, someone might be able to use it/fix it.

It's a wrench though. I've had that bag for a couple of years and have used it every day.

The New Look bag has no side pocket and the Kidston bag had a little matching purse attached by a 'string' and a clip.

I've bought chain from Homebase, two pencil cases from WHSmith and got a pair of keyring clips from my tiny drawer of [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] useful stuff and created a little skull pattern 'purse' for my first aid kit/inhaler and a 'Bits and Bobs' purse ( literally labelled "Bits and Bobs") for all those little bits and bobs that get lost at the bottom of the bag.

I think I'm set for the year ahead.

I hope we all have a better 2017 than we did 2016.

I've just had some fried lettuce!


I had some sea bass fillets and herb butter to cook in a shallow pan.

I also had some lettuce to use up, but knowing how quickly fish loses its heat, I didn't want to put the fillets onto cold lettuce, so I thought, what if I were to fry the lettuce in the pan once the fish had been lifted out?

So that's what I did, just for two or three minutes, and it worked really well!


It was that crisp sort of lettuce, dried well, then chopped roughly.

I can recommend it!

I am visiting a car less relative. We have done two trips to Ikea today, and I came very close to throwing myself on the floor and having a tantrum.

Tomorrow I retrieve Gitdog after 9 days in kennels. Could be fun.

Happy New Year everyone! I really hope it brings us all happiness and new beginnings.

I am all proud because my credit score is 931 out of 999. This actually means nothing because it's not like it does me any good really but it will be handy if we need to move as Letting Agents often check credit scores. It has taken ages to get it up that high and a lot of planning. So I am all happy about that.

Loved the slugs Pyxis, my news blackout continues. Let me know when it's safe!
