Not a great day. My dad fell and broke his arm (not your fault WaS). He's 83 so it's a worry. Hopefully that's it for 2016.

I'm in quite a reflective mood - 2016 has been such a doozy of a year and I'm more than ready to let it go, but it's only another day really and who's to say 2017 is going to be any better?

Not a big fan of hogmanay, really - too many people who can't handle their alcohol getting drunk too early - the number of times I've had to look after some random girl I've found in the toilets because they're too drunk and I don't want anything bad to happen to them, pubs that normally beg for business start charging to get in, drinks become more expensive, assuming you can even get to the bar, there are no Cabs to be found and everyone is under pressure to have the best night of their lives and nobody really is. The weather is nasty tonight too. Despite all that, I kind of wish I was going to a fancy party, mostly because I want to wear a ballgown again :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a happy and safe hogmanay and a wonderful new year.

Roasting the peppers and parsnips caramelises the natural sugars in the veg and gives a lovely flavour to the soup. I never put salt in anything, so I rely on herbs and things like the peppers/parsnips.

    A Skype party eh? :rotfl:

    Could be vairy eenterresting!

Why don't lamps work? Do you mean, plug into a socket lamps?
Yeah table lamps. I've tried 2 different lamps, in my plug sockets and none of them worked. I changed the bulbs, i changed the fuses, and nothing?! Weirdly though it works fine for my laptop/charger etc. Maybe i just keep buying dodgy lamps? :rotfl: i daren't buy another in case that doesn't work too.

Sorry about your Dad Code, hope he;s on the med and feeling better soon. I'm quite happy staying in tonight, town will be rammed full of people... (oh yes crowds and panic attacks..just what i want!) and i really dont want to ring in my new years surrounded by drunken idiots. So its chilling and watching netflix for me (speaking of that has anyone else watched Once Upon a Time? I'm late to the party and ony started ot the other month but i'm loving it)

A winning year for you, callie. What a great post.

I'm looking forward to a new year, purely because 2016 was such a downer, although nothing that bad happened to me.

I found £15 when I was sorting through some old paperwork, so that has been good.

We have Robbie on the TV. But DH has just turned over.

I ate loads today but want to nibble now. Toast would be good but I only have bake at home baguettes and I am too lazy.

Littlewing wants to stay up for auld lang syne.

I can't sing at all, so either "Shut up" by Madness ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul_Kotlqi3k ), as it disappears into an instrumental after 1m40s :rotfl:, or "London Calling" by the Clash ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfK-WX2pa8c ) because one of the lines is "London calling to the zombies of death", and if I'm going to sing one song in public, it really needs to be that one with that line in :D

Or "Maid of Orleans" by OMD ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmwMhjbThKg ), as I think it's an awesome bit of synthpop and only has eight lines of lyrics.

    Happy new year everyone :)
