Can't do a proper reply because I've not worked out how to penguin on my phone, but rant away if it helps. I think a lot of people have mixed feelings for any number of reasons.
Can you send out a list of ready prepared food for people to bring with them. And paper plates!

I'd say sod the lot of 'em and disappear off to your fiancee's for the duration of Christmas! Do understand the pressure of family making that a lot easier to say than do, though. Defintely hide the booze.

It sounds to me like you have sooo many plans over Christmas, far too busy to spend much time with your family, in fact, is that the time? Good grief. No, you'd love to stay and get them drinks and food, but you have other engagements you need to get to and you're late now, but they know where the kitchen is so they can help themselves. And while they're at it, would they mind getting dinner/drinks for your mum.
