Santa sweets penguinHaving to allow for boys getting 12 sweets (which I'm not very happy about) meant that there had to be quite a few more girls than boys. Strangely the number that I decided to start from was again only one 5-person increment away from being (hopefully) correct. I ended up with 250 girls and 189 boys. Of those, 200 girls and 126 boys got sweets (2,000 and 1,512) so there were 488 sweets left.End penguin0

Lambyr - well, you will be tired, what with all those extra people to wait on hand and foot, so it would be very easy to make mistakes0

Congratulation Lambyr!
Send them all a list of the food and drink, get some good stuff in for you and Mum with a load of veg, boil the bejings out of the veg, serve up and eat the good stuff in front of the rellies "I told you to bring your own, we're skint".
I hope you find some way to make them regret coming....
I've resigned.
I've also told brother that I've hired a building firm to finish the house.
Cue over an hour of him asking me to rethink, cancel, too much money, he could do it for less money and in less time etc.
I stood firm. Every time he's up here, he's working alone in dusty and dangerous conditions and I can't relax.
Hiring someone else means not only do I not worry about health and safety, I can sue if the work is shoddy.
Yes, it's more money but the work is guaranteed.
Even though I haven't done much today, I'm wiped out.
I don't 'do' confrontation/assertiveness.
Catch you later. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Well done Ginger :T

Well done GN, that's so brave. I'd be too terrified about paying the mortgage! Know exactly what you mean about the after-effects of confrontation, it's completely draining.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

Yes, I was going to say, make it a Christmas that they'll HATE! DON'T get loads of luscious goodies in, overcook everything, forget to buy something vital, like the pudding, or the Scotch, leave out the time-consuming extras like cranberry sauce, bread sauce, brandy sauce etc., and buy Bisto to pour over the turkey.
Don't spend loads of money on drinks, either.
If they're staying the night, make the next day be do-it-yourself muesli/toast breakfast, and any food will be leftovers, served cold.
Oh, and perhaps arrange for the TV to go on the blink?
Hopefully, they won't ever want to repeat it!
Then when they've gone, you can do a lovely meal just for you, your mum and E, and tell your mum your good news!

Err... that's what I do anyway! Is this not the done thing? :rotfl:
The TV might actually be on the blink anyway. My Sky+HD box has been locking up quite a lot lately. Well the one in the living room has. The one in my bedroom is fine, but that's a 2TB one which clearly I totally need.
There won't be any treats or stuff readily available. If uncle brings his GF again, I might sneak her a couple. She was alright... poor girl was thrown into it last year.
I'm holding off on announcments until either a) mum asks about the ring (still not noticed it), or b) when I can get E a ring. Hers won't be as fancy as mine (mine's got amethysts and iolites and purple garnets in it!!) but still want to get her one.
And well done GN! I know how confrontation can take it out of you!
I've got iolites in my special ring wot I had made for me 'cos I'd never ever had a nice ring! (It's got another stone as well).
They are lovely, a bit like diamonds with a slight lilac tinge.
Ok, re. the Bisto........well, make it really lumpy, then! And cold! :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

I've also collected my Christmas prescriptions and two pairs of 4EEE shoes.
A pair of velcro Mary Janes and a pair of two buckle monks.
I like the monks.
Telly box on the blink so you can only get the 'terrestial' channels, bad gravy over cool, over dry meat, too few pillows/cushions, a pilates ball at the dinner table or in front of the telly box because you don't have enough chairs- I can't think of anything which doesn't affect you and your Mum. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
