Snap pyxis. I am having a problem with my piles too today.

I would rather be hat shopping!

    Happy Friday! :D

    Can we watch Elf yet??

Work Christmas do tonight. Despite me moaning about the place this should actually be ok (none of my team work in the office I'm based in so it's not really a work thing for me). The people I'm based with are generally lovely so should be a fun evening of a 3-course meal, a bit of music and some entertainment.

Having said that, will still be spending most of today job hunting. Would be a lot easier if I had any idea what to do.... have narrowed it down to 'something that doesn't make me cry'.

It's December, of course you can watch Elf.

We're planning on putting up decorations tomorrow which means an evening of mulled wine (for IzHe, I don't like it so will have ordinary wine or maybe hot chocolate) and Love Actually once they're done :D

I'm not sure yet whether to get our tree now or wait until next weekend as I want to make sure it's not likely to have drooped before Christmas Day.
  • Our work Christmas meal is one afternoon in the week before Christmas, which is good as we get paid our normal salary to go to a nice restaurant and eat and drink lots, at the company's expense :rotfl: . I've booked the next day off so I don't have to worry about going to work with a hangover or being over the drink drive limit the morning after.

Hoping that one of the TV channels shows Scrooged this year as it's my favorite Christmas film. Really I should just buy it on DVD.

Just trying to motivate myself to do something really boring at the moment :o . Since it's something I decided needed to be done, I don't really have any excuse!

Tea (and code too) is there anyone (friends, family etc) you can talk all the job stuff through with, either for neutral advice / as a sounding board for ideas or even just to let off steam? We're all sympathetic and want to help, but also ultimately words on a screen. Sometimes it helps just to talk. I am aware of how hypocritical that is of me as I find it so difficult to open up face to face, but when I have been able to in the past it has helped release some of the pressure building up inside.

It was on a couple of weeks ago but I'm sure it'll be on again between now and Christmas. It's my favourite as well and it's what I always watch while I wrap presents.

    Hi all,

I promise I don't just come on here to moan but...I'm really struggling today. I'v been feeling more and more sad over the last couple of weeks as the lady at work's bump grows and some days I've only just made it home before bursting into tears. Last night DH told me that his sister is pregnant again and that he's been keeping it secret for 2 months to avoid telling me! Not only that but has asked his mum and sister not to tell me as well!

I know he is only trying to protect me but I just feel such an idiot. We went to their's for dinner two weeks ago and he asked them not to mention it! I thought it was odd that she was wearing such a big jumper...

Anyway, I just feel sad that I'm not pregnant, sad that they've obviously been discussing me behind my back and sad that my husband has put me in this position. I have to go to a Christmas do next week with them and now everyone will be watching to see how I react.

It's my school carol concert tonight followed by staff Christmas meal and I'm thinking I might just come home and miss the party. I can't face it. I nearly cried during the practice this morning :(

Ono, if you have netflix it's on there.

Action man has his xmas meal right about now

Cat has been let of the bag at work about me. As he was late for work due to road works. And he was asked why he was coming from that way. said he had stayed at his gfs and she lives out that way. Que lots of question from his boss about me :rotfl:

A little early I know but did my santa run last night. Just want it out my house and stop cluttering up my living room and let it clutter up theres :rotfl: Action man got to meet my brother and ever lovely SIL. The boys where being put to bed when we arrived.

Then on to my parents. We did have to laugh as action man is 6ft 2 and my parents ceilings are that if you are lucky. Action man got up from the chair and yes you guessed it banged his head. Apart from my uncle none of us above 5ft 10 :o

I agree with Ono that we have a new year approaching. So fresh starts all round :T

ooh hugs and squishes and handshakes all round. I am in the fort so do come and keep me company. just thought marathon xmas movie time :D

    Yours

ljaneyr, feel free to moan away.

I know it's a horrible situation to be in but please try to remember that your husband and SIL weren't talking about you in a malicious way, they have your best interests at heart and were just trying to do whatever they could to minimise your suffering.

Try to enjoy the Christmas do next week and, even though it might feel like everyone's watching for your reaction, most of the time people are far too wrapped up in themselves to be watching others and even if they are it will only be because they want to make sure you're not upset.

My appraisal is next Thursday. With a newly promoted manager who's barely in control.

I've been asked to fill in the appraisal forms before the interview.

And the management 'speak', the utter rubbish in the forms about objectives (no idea) and what I do to uphold the basic tenets of the job (answer phone politely and try to help) just seemed to be so remote from what I do, I am tempted to resign to spare myself the torture of an appraisal interview.

    I'm fed up.:(
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
