I am frozened. It's - 1°C here, and they just made us sit in a freezing meeting room for an hour and a quarter. Supposed to be an hour but a colleague I've mentally nicknamed Dyson, both because she's a major suck-up and she sucks, was asking endless questions. I really, really hate this place. No news if any new job and the old place may take several months to process my form.
Elsien, I agree that taking a sick day is for the best. Quite apart from anything else there are no prizes for going in while I'll, you'll infect anyone you come into contact with and you'll just make yourself ill.
Gingernutty, go for it. I'm very jealous because I'd love to just do that, but can't afford it. There have been days when I've gone out for lunch and very seriously considered not going back.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

I worked in a place where a guy did this. He'd been there a few months (and obviously not enjoying it). One day he said he was nipping out for some milk and clearly the freedom went to his head as he never came back. He sent an email a few days later confirming he'd quit.
He's been my hero ever since :rotfl:. I still dream of "doing a Phil" one day
Am close to saying something I could regret today. There's a whole ongoing saga here about who sits where. Long, dull story.... basically boils down to one team have another office elsewhere but still have the best area here, despite the fact that most of the time none of them are in. So those of us that are here 80% of the time are stuck with tiny, draughty desks in a line (which makes conversation difficult). We get to spend most of our time looking at the huge empty office area reserved for people that are in maybe twice a month.
It's creating a LOT of bad feeling, as it couldn't be more clear who is important here and who clearly isn't.0 -

Have you (the people there permanently) considered organising a sit-in protest and just taking over the empty office while no-one's watching?Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Have definitely considered that!!
'Management' (ha!) here have made it very clear that if the team leader of the people currently sitting there says jump, they do it..... despite the fact that she hardly ever shows her face here. She's actually in today and I've just heard her telling the manager that's supposed to be sorting it that her people can't move as it wouldn't be very welcoming or inclusive. So they get a bigger, better desk, more storage etc for the couple of times a month they're here... clearly the company don't feel the need to be welcoming or inclusive to those of us here most days.
It's very silly, who sits where is obviously a silly thing to get all narked about.... but it has been very telling about who matters and who doesn't.0 -

Similar thing to a place I use to work at, in the end everyone was so fed up of it, they just got packing boxes from the porters, packed everything up, moved their stuff to the area, and moved the packing boxes to the old area.
Typed a note, move by by order of management, left on top of boxes.

My poor little dog has been diagnosed diabetic and I hate giving her the injections, she always resists and I don't know how to make it easier on us both

That was my immediate thought.
Just do it! Just take over the unused space.
If they complain, just say, " but you're never here" and then become a stuck record.
