Morning all, hope everyone with lurgy isn't feeling too bad today, and that no one's being badly affected by the weather.

Big hugs to everyone dreading work today.

Well done on the blood donating WW. I need to go again but the online system refuses to let me book an appointment, which makes me irrationally annoyed and then I end up not going for ages. It's such a faff having to phone up instead of just book online but it just refuses to let me log in, or register again (have spoken to them about it and they keep telling me it's fixed but it really isn't). Although that it a rubbish reason for not going so I'll make an effort to try and call them this week :D

Any news on ER elsien? Hope they find a suitable place soon.

    (((WaS))) take care xx

ETA: grr!! I had a reply to gingernutty in here but have managed to lose that bit..... in summary, go for it :D

I have just called in sick. Brain has turned to mush so I wouldn't be any use anyway. Made me feel worse though as I'll just have twice as much to do tomorrow.

I meant my encouragement was reckless as I was just thinking what I would love to be able to do.:)

    Yukky weather here.

  • GN, if you are financially secure it sounds like now might be a good time for a change.

New job offers vibes duly sent code.

Got into work this morning and the central heating in the building wasn't running. My radiator didn't start to warm up until an hour later at 8.30 so for the first hour I ended up running the fan heater and holding my cup of tea for warmth. It's still jolly cold in here even now :( and the rain looks set for the day.

And a lesson for me. I have a little tablet computer which gets used when I'm sat on the sofa with the TV on. The lesson is to never leave it overnight not plugged in to the charger, as it has a really loud klaxon noise that alerts you when the battery is low. Even at 4am in the morning. Since I live in a bungalow the bedroom and the lounge are at opposite ends of the hallway, so I awoke at 4am Sunday morning with a start wondering if it was a dream. Wasn't until it happened again 15 minutes later I got up and tried to figure out what on earth was going on :rotfl:

Any work you did today would probably need re-doing anyway, plus you'd take even longer to feel better. Get yourself a hot drink and a duvet and get resting...... dr tea's orders :rotfl:.

Good choice :D If I try to write code when I'm unwell, I only have to go back and correct all the mistakes when I'm well again, it's totally counterproductive and it takes me much longer to get better.

Duvet and resting is an issue when there's a Gitdog in the house.
He'll let me sit at the dining room table on the laptop when I'm working from home and be good as gold, but sat in the sitting room chair with a book or watching TV and he goes into full on harrassment mode. And a newspaper is like a red rag to a bull.
Thinking of asking parent to have him so I can go back to bed.

    Morning All,

Gingernutty, in your position I'd definitely leave. Low morale at work is hideous to deal with and I wouldn't put myself through it if I didn't have to.

Elsien, I hope you manage to get some rest today and feel better soon.

Code, sending happy new job thoughts your way.

Ono, I hope you warm up soon.

Right, time for coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. It was a good weekend, including getting to talk on the radio about my favourite band (I can't say which radio show as they mentioned my full name), but it was also very busy and tiring and I'd far rather be in bed than at work right now.

Wish I could have him for the day, elsien. Too far away, sadly. Hope you are better soon.

I just did my gas/elec comparison in superquick time. The renewal letter was easy to understand and find relevant info (think this was a regulator requirement). I also used the energy saving club on MSE.

Hoorah for getting on with it.

Still virtually need the light on in here. Maybe I will light some candles instead.

  • Agree with previous posters elsien.

Showing up for work half cocked will only cause trouble later.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
