Code, Facebook does weird things sometimes. I've just had a group I belong to vanish as if it doesn't exist, can't even see it on search unless I set up a new profile. It's one of their glitches and not necessarily anything personal.
faerie, can you set up your email to automatically divert the agency emails to another folder that you only check once a day? I hope your appointment achieves something for you.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Now I feel old - heating milk in microwave & adding coffee is what we call "coffee" round here! The milk used to be heated in a specific milk saucepan, which had to be watched very carefully in case it boiled over. some people had a glass thing to put in the pan to save it boiling over, but that just made it one more thing to wash. Washing the milk pan was never a popular job. Then - hooray! - they invented microwaves, you could heat the milk directly in the cup, no pan to wash, you could even reheat it if you were busy & it got cold.
Same for soup, heat directly in the bowl, no pan to wash. Great!
So tell me, modern people, how do you make coffee with hot milk if you don't use the microwave? Have milk pans come back into fashion? Does everybody have cold milk in their coffee now? Surely we're not the only family who only uses instant coffee?Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0 -
Cold milk!! The thought of hot milk makes me queasy :rotfl:, oh the smell of it!
Which is very silly as I know it gets hot as soon as I put it in tea/coffee. But it has to go in straight from the fridge.0 -
I suspect you & I Tea Lover only drink coffee fairly rarely, and you are not alone in hating the smell of hot milk - I can only make custard when OH is out as the smell makes him queasy too.
But the rest of our family like hot milk in their coffee, and that is how it is made and what I was brought up on. If it's all milk, or nearly all milk, straight out of the fridge would hardly be a warming drink! So how do people do it??Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0 -
Yes, it is 7DW who suffers from the restless leg syndrome. Luckily I don't get it that often, but when I do it's blooming annoying.
Welcome to the clutz club code! Seems we're all a bunch of accident prone people then lol! Re Facebook, I haven't a clue, not on it and glad I'm not on it!
Faerie, I think companies send out those emails automatically so that they're in your inbox for when you get up, because most people are in bed that time. That's just my theory anyhow? Hope the appointment goes well.
Boo to the banker setting fireworks off Lambyr.
What was the gig tea?
If I'm making instant coffee (which us what I mainly have), then I just have cold milk. But when I use the Nespresso machine, I use the Aerochino to warm up the milk. I suppose I could use that everytime, but I don't.
Edit: the smell of hot milk makes me feel queasy too.0 -

I can remember the first time I came across hot milk in c offee as a child. Didn't know it was just a small amount as you use when cold so the coffee was very strong!Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I think I'll join you lot in the bubble wrapped accident prone corner. If there's something on the floor I'll trip over it, I bump into furniture that hasn't moved and door handles, I've broken my toes multiple times. I am always covered in bruises and once I managed to drop a knife in such a way that it stabbed my foot.
Ok, I've dropped my bag of crazy. I was on fb earlier and noticed someone in my people you may know bit. It was someone I have a somewhat complicated past relationship with but thought I was on level terms with now. Then suddenly he disappeared from it and isn't on the list anymore. So it looked like he hit the 'I don't know this person' thingy. But did he come up because he looked at my profile? His number isn't in my phone and I don't have his email address. I'm all paranoid now.
Mainly you have to find things that work for you. I have had rls for over 35 years and I have found some things work for a while, then stop working. Exercise (the right amount, too much can be as bad, if not worse, than none), leg stretches, hot baths, cold baths, elevating the legs, gentle massage, all are non-medical aids .
Once you get to the medications, magnesium and quinine (tonic water) are the friendliest ones.
One thing I found worked really well was Codeine, but it has such horrible side effects and is so addictive, the only time I ever took it was after a week of no sleep, out of desperation.
Then there was, about ten years ago, medication licensed for RLS.. Ropinirole (Requip) is a Parkinson's drug prescribed by a GP in small doses for RLS.. This is the only thing that has worked all the time for me, and even now it works better sometimes than others. What it does do for me is a) lets me have some sleep, although myt sleep pattern still isn't good, and b) if I am doing anything that triggers, like going to the cinema or a long car journey, I can time my medication so that it keeps away the symptoms.
Major drawback is gradually having to increase the dose, but after over five years I am still nowhere near the highest permissible dose, and now other medications have been licensed, so maybe if necessary I could go onto those.
It's a nasty affliction, especially if you have it every day like I do. Hope this helps, xx
NB, this is not medical advice, of course you must consult a health professional.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
SJ - I actually get through loads of coffee at work :rotfl:. I much prefer tea but only when I have access to a kettle. Tea made with hot but not boiling water is just wrong!
I now like the fact that the two are really separate in my brain - coffee is for work and studying, tea is for home and relaxing :rotfl:.
Georgie - it was shed sevenFantastic little venue that used to be a cinema but oh my, it was hot!

I make my coffee with a cafetiere, so it's water based. I add cold milk. I used to make up some American style half and half (half single cream/half milk) but it's too much of a fuss really. It is one of the things I think the Americans actually have the right idea about though and they can buy it pre-made from the store. Never seen it sold in the UK, though Starbucks, Costa and other specialist coffee shops do use it. Guess they make their own on site?
So funny, completely unexpected thing happened this morning. I've been asked to write a treatment for a film! Can't go into too many details at this point - and don't have too many details myself yet - but if they like what I come up with then they're gonna hire me to write the screenplay!
Suddenly I've completely forgotten how grumpy I was about being tired again! :rotfl:She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?0 -
