(I need to learn how to make that)
This is very similar yo the recipe I use http://www.flora.com/recipes/detail/26321/1/easy-tasty-lemon-drizzle-cake-recipe
I now really want some rum butter too!
I think it would be a brilliant idea WaS. It's so simple, basically just bung all the ingredients into the pot, turn it to low if you put it on early enough (8 hours), or high if you don't put it on until lunch time (4 hours).
The meat comes out so tender and the best bit is you can out it on and forget about it and all day you can smell your lovely meal cooking!
That's something I've never tried either elsien, but as there's some pudding recipes in my new book, I might give it a try!0 -
Ooh, cakes and puddings are even better! Do you have to put hot liquid in a slow cooker? I am thinking that if I could use cold water with prepared veg and already cut up meat I might be able to make a stew all by myself which WaSp could then serve. It's not the cheapest option but it does mean I could cook by myself and it is certainly safer than making a stew in a pan and having to boil it which would probably result in me picking up the hot pan by the sides or something as equally forgetful.
I really miss cooking because I loved creating new recipes from scratch. I seldom get the chance these days because while WaSp is standing next to me and watching he might as well do it himself in half the time. Morning all!
Some recipes, especially if you need to mix a powder (packet mix) require boiling water. But a lot of them you can just out cold water in, and a lot of the ones we do just require tinned tomatoes to be added, such as the chicken Provencal one, which is basically just chicken, peppers, onions and the dried mix mixed with tinned tomatoes.0 -
I would like a relaxing Saturday, reading a book.
Gitdog appears to have ethical objections to anyone sitting and doing nothing during daylight hours as it makes him feel ignored. He's sitting glaring at me, whinging and occasionally strolling over to bat the book out of the way with his nose.
I wouldn't mind, but he went on strike when we went for a walk so it's not even that he wants to go out. Maybe I need to teach him how to Hoover. If only I could remember myself.....All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hahahahaha! Did you get any peace, elsien?
That is a real possibility for me then, Georgie! I shall have to look around at various slow cookers. I am excited!
I hope everyone is ok and having a good Saturday!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

This one looks a good one WaS https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/gg-groupon-goods-global-gmb-h-24-3073?deal_option=3ae2c2a8-8822-49df-865d-aeb327b39ec7&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=uk_dt_sea_ggl_txt_tim_pads_cbp_chp_nbr_target*_adposition*1o4_prodtarget*18283950120_adtype*pla_product_partition_id*18283950120_campaignid*328734126_adgroupid*21581607966&mr:referralID=02e3f9f5-4b92-11e6-a3c0-005056946dac&gclid=CJnB9Kjm-M0CFQtAGwodbhwFAQ I like that it has a glass lid on it so you can check on your food without having to open it.
I wouldn't be without mine now0 -
You can make porridge in the slow cooker too. Prepare it before you go to bed and it's all ready for when you wake up in the morning. Just don't put the porridge actually in to the slow cooker itself, I make mine in a glass dish inside the slow cooker, otherwise it cooks on solid!0

I always think porridge is one of those healthy things that I really should start eating, so I buy it and then never eat it. My Dad had a bowl every morning, and my Mam does most mornings, but it's not really my favourite thing. Although I did have a really nice bowl of it when I was in Scotland once (My Dad's was lovely also!), of course it's going to be lovely up there, they're experts at it lol!
Talking of Scots, cooee code! Hope you're ok?0 -
