I'd never heard of a Pangolin, they are so cute!

I had my Italian friend come to stay over Easter, which as always meant a lovely weekend catching up as we rarely see each other.

Don't know if anyone else has the same reaction as me, but even though I enjoy doing it, I need some time to recover from hosting guests as I end up exhausted, despite not doing anything strenuous. Could have been the storm keeping me awake half the night on Sunday morning of course *yawns* .

I find that having guests for three days or less is, in some ways, a pain. I get a bit stressed preparing for them, and then getting used to having people in the house, preparing 'proper' meals, etc, and making conversation more often than usual. After about three days, I settle into the new routine and start to enjoy having the company. Then I'm often quite sorry to see them go.

Trouble is, guests don't usually stay more than about three days, so I'd go through all that upheaval for nothing! :D

By the way, I'll be doing a course this afternoon, tomorrow and most of Thursday, so don't worry if I'm not around much. I should be able to log on in the late evening though.

Happy happy happy with pangolins and EBTs! xxxxxx Wonderful pix - this is my natural history thread at the moment!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • I think I am expert on pangolins now, I have read and watched so much about them. I also found a Hospice shop that was selling a cuddly one for £8 so he is on his way to me!

    What is your course, Pyxis?

You do better than me, ono. I manage about 6 hours with people before panic sets in and I need to hide! I even need time quietly away from WaSp!

Did everyone have a good easter? Sympathy to everyone who went back to work today!

Back in hulk mode again and it's not good :(
  • Aw, deep breaths, Welly! Can you grab a few minutes to yourself? Even if it's hiding in the bathroom for the occasional 5 minute breather? Hang in there.

Random thought time - perhaps you'll know why shall not is shortened to shan't rather than shalln't.

Hello everyone. I am too tired after a long day to do much other than read.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Hello everyone. I am too tired after a long day to do much other than read.

Basically because shalln't is awkward to pronounce!

Similarly, attract was originally adtract, which is more awkward to say.

And we say won't rather than willn't or win't, because will not was originally woll not, which became wonnot, so the contracted form was won't.

    Addictive, this etymology lark! :D

I'm just feeling really really tired....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
