short term pain for long term gain! I'm only thinking that he probably doesn't have any relationships that don't involve romance (to be polite) so it may be good for him to have a mild friendship.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Who was it (apart from me) that likes 80s synthpop? I heard "Only you" on the radio on the way home from work (Gardeners' question time on R4 so I had to find a different station) and found myself singing along, very loud and very out of tune, now can't stop singing it to myself
. One forgets how many great songs Vince Clark has written.
Glad the weekend is here, was ill last weekend and spent most of it in bed as I could barely stay awake and had no energy at all. It's blown over a bit today, though, but I'm wiped out though from my busy week.

Hello Welly! We miss you, how lovely to hear from you!
Poor WaSp feels even worse today. He is now dizzy and feeling sick with side effects of the new pill! His GP told him he might feel unwell for the first two weeks of taking it so he has to put up with it. We both have the same somewhat rare high blood pressure condition where the systolic (top) number is within range but the diastolic (bottom number) is high, this means when they give us pills to drop the bottom number down the top number drops too low giving symptoms of low blood pressure. No idea why we both have the same thing, it's coincidence, honest! Mine is fine after juggling different pills, poor WaSp's isn't at all and he is careering between high and low blood pressure depending what pills he takes.
I hope everyone has a lovely long weekend! You know, I still get excited over Bank Holidays? I have no idea why because even when I worked I put myself on shift for every one of them so my staff could have the day off, it's not like I ever had time off work. I'm weird. :rotfl:Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I was just reading the who pays for a date thread on here and I realised I have never been on a date. The five relationships I have had were all with people who were friends previously so we were used to going out alone for drinks and to see films, etc together and once we started 'dating' it just continued as it had always been.
Certainly in WaSp's case we were best friends for 6 months beforehand so were used to going out together, we never had an official date as such because we just did what we always had and nothing in our social life with each other changed. Things like going out for dinner didn't really register with us because we had been doing it for ages as friends. We never dressed up to go out, by the time we were in a relationship WaSp had already held my head over the toilet whilst I threw up after too much alcohol and I had dragged him out of someone's front garden after he fell over the wall after again drinking too much (Yay! student days!). We had already seen each other at our worse and we were so comfortable with each other that we felt very relaxed and didn't feel a need to make an extra effort now we were in a relationship. We had even shared the same bed loads of times so very little changed for us.
I feel all bereft now! What does it feel like to go on a proper date? Is there date etiquette? I wonder if WaSp and I could still go on a date and make it feel like one? I feel like I have missed out now! :rotfl:Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Neither have I WaS, my even smaller number of relationships have all grown out of friendship.
Maybe that's why whenever someone writes "friendzone" on here I cringe! I can't believe that that's even a thing that happens.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Glad it isn't just me, ono! I understand what you mean, my relationships were the opposite to friendzoning, in every case we knew each other really well before we moved onto a relationship so there was never really any awkwardness or sadly any real thrill at going out together for the first time as a couple. With WaSp we were already staying over at each others flat's several times a week and knew everything about each other so there wasn't any real initial excitement at all. It was lovely in a way because we had nothing to be wary of or awkward about but in another way I feel like I have missed out!
I just mentioned this to WaSp and he rolled his eye's and said dates are overrated. He did go on dates before being with me and while being friends with me and much prefers how we got together which is nice but still...I want a date! :rotfl:Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Loon and I were going out as friends first and things developed from there. I remember when he introduced me as his girlfriend for the first time! I only had one boyfriend before him though. Not come across the term friendzone.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

To be honest, haven't felt very well today. The chestiness/cough is back and I've felt rather rough.

Friendzone means when someone wants to enter into a romantic relationship with another person but they only want them as a friend, hence put into a friends only zone.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
