Funny you should mention that code. I was reading this article this morning http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3598017/Can-really-earn-350-000-year-selling-aloe-vera-thousands-women-join-controversial-home-selling-empire-read-Candice-s-cautionary-tale.html I was going to say to forward it to her but tbh she probably wouldn't listen. People think these are going to be the miracle solution to all their money woes, but they're anything but. Hopefully she'll figure that out soon.

I'm so glad I'm not on Facebook, I really could not be on with the endless selfies, self promotions etc.

All I can say is don't buy anything from her. She'll get the initial hit and get drawn in even further because she'll be thinking "oh great, it's working", but she'll just get pulled into it more and more....it is not a get rich scheme, and I think she'll have to figure that out for herself and she won't listen to what anyone has to say.

Edit: don't know if the above link is what she is selling, but a fairly similar thing probably.

That's not what she's selling but not a million miles away. It's difficult because me being as subtle as a sledgehammer, I want to tell her that it's not the answer and it's just annoying but I have to nod and smile instead.

Thing is, you could tell her until your blue in the face, but it sounds like she'll only hear what she wants to hear. Loads of lasses on D's Facebook are selling things on these schemes.

It seems to be the (mostly) SAHM's new avon/tupperware party only way more pushy and with fewer snacks.

I have another friend who sells skin care products but she asked me before she started selling them if I would be interested in buying anything, I said 'no thanks' and she hasn't mentioned it since.

  • Hello Bluebell! Sorry that I haven't said hello yet!

Aw, MU I am so happy for Swain! I would love a fridge magnet, I collect them! Thank you!

I am a little fragile right now so I am quiet. I seem to be careering from one mental health problem to another resulting in a BDP flare which I will write about at some point because it is an insight into a BDP mind and I also want to whine about it. All of this is likely the left over feelings from the ESA form so should even out soon but please forgive me if I am quiet, I will back properly when I am in a fit state to be around humans without completely overreacting to something innocent.

Post away, WaS. If I am not mistaken, you always try to 'save' us from your worse feelings as they happen and yet one or other of us can usually make you feel better sooner rather than later.

Actually, BPD brings me nicely on to the fact that I passed my martial arts grading exam this week and I am dedicating this one to the kittenhearted faerie, and the lovely melly. Both of you have had very trying times and both of you have kept going as best you can.

I am awake with a nasty cough and yukky nose and tickly throat and I do believe a slight headache is coming on.

Code, would you be up for writing her a long letter, saying what you've said in your post, with lots of kindness and hugs? And ending with " I want my friend back"?
It could be your chance to help her. If she takes no notice, at least you've tried. At least she'll know that you don't want to spend money you can't afford on things you don't like, but that, more importantly, you're worried that she's getting herself into an impossible situation, financially, and you're seriously worried about her.
Then follow it up with a visit when you're sure she'll have received it and give her a big hug?

Oh WaS, I was worrying that you were so quiet. :A
No worries, take all the time you need. We know you'll be hovering, so we'll be talking to you too!

We're off to the seaside on sunday! (And WaS i'm going to find and send you a fridge magnet, i know you can;t get to the seaside yourself so i figure you can still have a memento! I'll be thinking of you all )

Oooh! Will you be going to BoggleHole? I like BoggleHole! And you can walk into Scarborough from there, along the beach!

How lovely about the knitted pig! What a lovely, thoughtful mum!

Sorry this is so late..........got overtaken by events!

Here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..

!!!But first...............please be assured..................................................................******It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. (See below about penguins). In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.******

    - This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.

    - People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.

    - The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!

-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.

Similarly, if they want to discuss something that might be a trigger for some people, then posting PENGUIN would be a warning that what follows in the whiteout might be a trigger.

    - So, if you think something might be a PENGUIN, please post something like the green bit which follows.

"Possible penguin about.........(Type of Trigger)" The trigger might be:- child abuse, marital abuse/violence, paranoia, stalkers, death, etc. (It's important to indicate the type of trigger, so that people can avoid reading it if they need to).

Then, when you post, repost the word PENGUIN above the discussion. Then post the penguiny bit in white! And the phrase END OF PENGUIN when you have finished.

It will look like this. You will be able to see the white text if you highlight it or if you quote it, (so please don't 'quote' a post containing a penguin onto the thread!)
    (Harmless example follows here):-
    PENGUIN

This is a penguin. A nasty, crotch biting penguin (CBP).
It isn't really! So you can look
    . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozGTv0hxhpc[/url]

    END OF PENGUIN

(NB on a tenth-page repost of the etiquette, you can see these penguiny words because they are white against the green 'quote' background. On a normal post, they will be white against white, and so won't be seen on the thread.)

IMPORTANT: It has been ascertained that some posters to this thread have found that there are certain subjects which act as triggers, precipitating a worsening of their condition.
To protect these posters, you are respectfully requested NOT to discuss these subjects on this thread:-

Religion. (Please note: it is recognised that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and we respect those beliefs. It is only because of the fact that religion does act as a trigger for some posters, that we exclude it from discussion.)
N.B. Please don't even mention the name of the religion.

The afterlife. The reason for this is explained in this thread by one poster, and there will be others for whom this is a trigger.

We ask and thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

    .........:starmod:.....................................................................:starmod:................

!!!So, to reiterate..............******It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.******

    - More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can.
