Tea - you've just reminded me that I've got a bag of Wispa bites in the kitchen cupboard. I'm not sure whether this is a good thing or not - tonight is meant to consist of going to the gym and doing some ironing, I can now see it panning out more along the lines of sitting in front of rubbish telly and eating Wispa bites :D

I can completely understand that Pyxis. What's annoying is comments that state it's in some way not allowed to tell people earlier (or later - as if 12 weeks is somehow magical). It's quite an arbitrary deadline but so many people seem to take it as some sort of divine truth that must not be messed with.

I have absolutely no idea why I am rabbiting on about this. Someone distract me with a wispa :D

Pssst! Tea! Shhh! Listen to this.............

I know people that have waited before telling anyone to keep it as something just for them to share before inviting in the world, and others out of superstition / dogma about not saying anything for 12 weeks. Superstition is a difficult thing to explain, even to oneself, so I won't attempt it.

A wispa sounds very tempting right now :o

    Not superstition really.

    Penguin about m/c
it wasn't all that long ago that the first three months were very critical. When I was growing up and a teenager, and even into my early twenties, no-one ever admitted to being pregnant before about three months, because of that.

However the other thing of course, was that pregnancy tests, then, couldn't be done anything like as early as they can now, so you couldn't be absolutely sure you were pregnant for quite a while.

Even in 1979, tests weren't done as soon as now. I'm trying to think how long I had to wait, before a bought test kit would be accurate. Can't actually remember. But it wasn't as soon as it is now, anyway.

Massive general comment penguin about early pregnancy/mc/and other stuff :

I told everyone I was pregnant with littlewing as soon as I knew but did worry something bad would happen.

I would feel uncomfortable if someone in the early stages THAT I DIDN'T KNOW WELL announced a pregnancy and then a miscarriage because I would find it difficult to know if it were actually an abortion. So I would probably ignore it more.

I am somewhat anti-abortion but I am also aware from being on MSE that it can be a difficult stance. I don't mean in terms of other MSE users, just that MSE has made me more aware of life experiences and that my viewpoint may be in flux on the matter. (I think some of the 'abortion' attitude of mine is related to my mental health and it is too close to home.

Pyxis, plus they didn't/couldn't? do scans in my parents' generation in our area. DS' was the first scan that my 'auntie' had been to.

    Oh no, there were scans!

Well, in 1979 scans had been available for a while, but weren't done routinely like they are now. I had one done for a technical reason, but wasn't offered a photo or anything.

    Thanks everyone :)

I've gone through the budget and I've got enough to get me through three to four months if I'm careful. My OH is earning OK money and will help out.

It's just driving the MH issues through the roof at the moment :(

Completely understandable hbs. In among the job hunting and budgeting, do make sure you take some time to relax and take care of yourself. Pyxis has some great suggestions a few posts back.

faerie and myself (and WaS I believe) highly recommend a bit of colouring!

Pengiun: After saying last night I was going to try and tackle the bingeing, today has been worse than ever, .. I had a hospital scan today of my bones because I went through early menapause 8 years ago and have only just gone on HRT. I had a scan 5 years ago and it showed the beginnings of osteoporosis, so I am really worried about the results of this scan.. As a response to the fear, I went straight to the garage at 10am and bought 3 chocolate bars and ate them, and I just got my asdo shop delivered, and instead of a healthy snack they substituted it for a whole carrot cake, and I've just binged on the whole lot.. I hate this eating disorder, it feels like it's ruling the roost. Any emotions that I can't deal with, be it lonliness, grief, anger, fear, pain.. I binge to numb myself .It's ironic that I am so worried about my physical health, it's so overwhelming to have so many illnesses at my age, yet I'm morbidly obese and getting fatter, which is not good for my health!
I'm seeing a dietition tomorrow, but I don't hold out much hope.. I saw one a few years ago who didn't have a clue about eating disorder treatment, but I'll give it a go.. I have never had specific help for my ED, even when I was anorexic and bulimic.. I really need to tackle this head on.. maybe the MH support I've got will help,, I hope so.
