Izzy, I live in Cumbria which is beautiful when the weather is warm and sunny, but when it's rainy and dull, not so much lol! Although I guess the same could be said about anywhere!
Never seen the Lakes either.
Closest I got was on a train to Oban 20+ years ago, so I travelled through Cumbria and saw some scenery from the train, and another time when I went to Carlisle for a music event several years ago.
It's a big omission.(I just lurve spiders!)

Visited the lakes with my parents as a teenager (or possibly younger) in our tiny touring caravan. My enduring memories are incessant rain and there being nowhere to park most of the time!Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

I've never been to the lakes, I don't think. When I was a kid we'd go camping in the Highlands unless it was midge season, in which case we'd go to Yorkshire. Picture an ancient skoda loaded up for a camping trip, by my mother who is an overpacker and would bring all our food, with 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 Labradors :rotfl:
Melly, a thought for tomcat/dog food, some places will give free samples of pet food so might be worth emailing them to ask. If you say you're interested in switching but pet is fuasy, might get you through. Alternatively, keep an eye out for yellow stickered tins of tuna/mackerel etc. Then everyone can eat.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
As a thought, I'm popping to the supermarket at lunchtime. Going to buy some petfood and put it in the food bank bin.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

Part of the reason I picked the uni I did was its proximity to the Lakes - very handy for field trips0

Mary Beard's Ultimate Rome: Empire Without Limit
BBC TWO 9PM WED 27 APR
In a new four-part series, Mary Beard reaches back to the myths and legends of the origins of Rome to answer the questions that have fascinated her throughout her academic career. Why the Romans? What made them special? In this series Mary will gain an insight into the deep-rooted psyche of the people of Rome and and argue that the marble, monumental Rome we know came about because of imperial conquest – not the other way round.(I just lurve spiders!)

Lakes are beautiful.
Someone has recommended me for a European role (interim) so call about that tomorrow.
When I actually had money lol I put stuff in the pet and stuff in the people food banks at the supermarket.
As I am clearly showing it's so easy for people to end up needing a little help.
Dogs are ok for food thankfully it's just Mr fussypants to be fair to tomcat he has been an angel with his food and not been wasting it and sulking this week (as well as staring at OH whilst he's asleep)0 -
Pyxis you should add it to the list.
It's a very beautiful part of the country.0 -
Urgh. I've about had it with this job. I like what I do and I like my job ( most of the time). Just had a really good review too. But there are a couple of people in the office who are just so negative about everything that it just destroys the atmosphere. Nobody chats anymore except to moan about the current situation and while the current situation sucks balls, they can't seem to see that whining and moaning about it like stroppy teenagers is just making it worse. Also because they're senior staff members it's rubbing off on their team ( including me) and nobody wants to work with them now because they have a reputation of being difficult, which means we're stuck in limbo because we're tainted by association.
Been looking for senior development positions elsewhere but what I do is quite specialised so its difficult to move elsewhere. In the meantime, I'm being hit by a massive wall of negativity everytime I walk into the room.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Code can you spend some time with other areas.
You need to change their opinion of you at least (or make sure your not tainted by association)
Shall I sleep now?
