So I'd like links supporting not only that these machines are more likely to be the cause of a fire in your home than washing machines, but also that they are more dangerous than any other brand of tumble dryer.

Not quite the link you are looking for, but one that explains why the absence of evidence to counter your argument is not evidence to support your argument.

Did you quote the wrong poster? Zandoni is the one who hasn't provided any proof for his arguments.

You referred to a Which report so I'd like to see it. You are the one playing down people's fears,.

Please provide proof I am downplaying peoples fears.

ETA: Bear in mind to downplay something is to make something appear less important/severe than it really is, rather than attempting to diminish an exaggeration.

I'm still waiting for the link to the Which report you mentioned.

It's also worth noting that a tumble dryer fire is likely to be far more serious than one from a washing machine. Washing machine fires are usually burning circuit boards or motor faults, and they will have a hard time igniting wet clothes. Tumble dryers ignite the dust and fluff and then have fuel from hot dry clothes. This is only my opinion though but I do know a bit about this sort of thing, whether you believe that or not.

And I told you I wasn't going to waste my time providing more proof to back up my arguments (given how much I've already linked previously in this thread and the prior thread) until you started substantiating your own opinions.

I'd also like a link to prove what you say above, that tumble dryer fires are more serious.

Btw you obviously don't know as much as you think - last I checked the circuit board isn't inside the washing machine drum where the wet clothes are and everyone with even an ounce of common sense should realise that water & electricity = fire risk. Water does not put out an electrical fire and you should never ever ever put water on an electrical fire.

At least admit there is no link and you got it wrong.

As I said it was my opinion so that would be a bit tricky supplying a link. I never said a circuit board is in the drum. Water will put out an electrical fire but it carries an high risk of electrocution to the person doing it. I am not denying the fact that washing machines catch fire but I'd imagine tumble dryers cause more damage and will ignite very quickly.

    No.

(It was in response to you, having been challenged to provide evidence to support your argument, failing to do so and instead asking Zandoni to prove what you are saying is wrong.)

Theres links backing up everything I've said so far.

Water on electrical fires can cause explosions and worsen the fire, that is why any fire extinguishing advice will always say never to put water onto an electrical fire.

Yes do you do imagine quite a lot it seems often with little regard for facts. Including that somehow an electrical fire from a washing machine wouldn't be as bad as an electrical fire from a tumble dryer due to wet clothes being in the drum. :rotfl: I couldn't make this up but apparently you can.

*sigh* Have you read the entire thread and did you also read the thread previous to this one?

If you had you'd realise that both myself and other posters provided dozens of links to zandoni. We also asked him to provide links backing up what he was saying, and we're still waiting for even 1 link to be provided backing him up. We eventually got him to admit that other appliances are fire risks but prior to that he was describing tumble dryers as the fire hazard in peoples homes and maintaining that hotpoint knowingly sold these dangerous machines for at least a large % of those 11 years.

With that in mind perhaps you can understand my reluctance to entertain his requests any longer and also understand why it is dangerous for people to think that appliances are not a fire risk just because they're not subject to a recall!

You were asked a simple question. Supply a link to support what you say is fact.

If you have such evidence why not just provide it rather than argue?
