Yes there are lots of life threatening things out there, but not so many that you pay £300 for.

Result! I had been contacted by hotpoint and registered my machine as needing the "adjustment " in Nov 2015. I was told I would get an spot in March. As I had heard nothing since I use the MSE link to contact them again Easter Sat. Got an email confirmation same day and further emails today. Phone call from them today to confirm my details and as they no longer make my model CTD000G they are giving me a free brand new replacement same spec better energy efficiency. They apologised that it would be white not graphite - not a problem for me as machine now in utility room so does not need to match my other appliances!

Crikey, now who's making up stories.

It's unbelievable to think that a certain amout of the fires didn't get back to them over the years. It's also unbelievable that didn't monitor machines that they made.
    .

Sorry to keep having a go at you but !!!!!! makes a reasonable point re not all machines/reports getting back to Hotpoint.

Again, you seem to be under the misguided illusion that a couple of reports come in and the company should be issuing recalls - that might work for a small business, but a massive enterprise like Hotpoint aren't going to issue a recall based on (what I assume) was a very limited number of initial reports.

Big business simply don't work like that.
With all the gullible people in this world it's easy to see how that thought they'd get away with it though

I really do wish you'd enlighten us all with whatever evidence it is you're aware of that the rest of us aren't - as this isn't the first time you've accused Hotpoint of covering this up deliberately yet have provided no evidence to support your theory.

You are starting to remind me of another manufacturer Ariston, do you remember them? They go on and on and on :)

I have told you repeatedly why I believe they should of started the recall earlier. As you know I can't supply evidence but why do you support Hotpoint so strongly when they refuse to answer questions from the Daily Mirror?

Regulars here love to investigate and rip people apart when they come here for help, but they usually always support big business and believe everything they say.

I don't really care what the Daily Mirror say to be honest - I mean who are they? Wannabe trading standards?

I think your confusing "supporting Hotpoint" with logical/real world opinions.

The Daily Mirror are just asking a question and Hotpoint are refusing to answer. It's not wannabe anything, they have the power to ask.

There is no confusion you are blindly believing what Hotpoint are saying without question.

They have the power to ask, but why should Hotpoint answer? Any answer they give is likely open to interpretation and will be turned against them and used to give them further bad publicity, I can certainly see why they don't want to get involved.

I can't recall a time when I've blindly believed what Hotpoint are saying. I mean the figures regarding risk etc speak for themselves, even without the figures Hotpoint have provided, we arrived at an estimate of less than 1% on the other thread if you recall - and therefore the risk was deemed "low" over on the other thread, that was without Hotpoints figures.

I'm confused as to what I've done which indicates I "blindly believes Hotpoint"

You supplied the link to Hotpoint's email and called it Facts and Figures, it's actually Hotpoint's version of the events.

I don't believe less than 1% to be low, If they made a gun with a chamber for 100 bullets would you play russian roulette with it.

You will not entertain my arguement at all, even though big manufacturers have hidden things in the past.

Ok fair enough, I can't really disagree with you on that.

But that's an unfair comparison - every tumble dryer manufacturer has fires or "incidents".

I'd entertain it if you negotiated a little, you seem solidly set on Hotpoint knew about it for 11 odd years and did nothing, ignored reports etc...

They do but we are just talking Hotpoint on this thread and they are the ones who are now doing a recall and have miraculously came up with a fix.

I have never said Hotpoint knew about it for 11 years I have said I believe they knew about it for a big percentage of the time.
