And once again you've continued to make up your own fantasies about other people that do exactly the same as you. You "sent a perfectly reasonable letter to them" but everyone else is "me, me, me", "react with outrage, throw toys out the pram, demand xyz, refuse to cooperate, completely overact to the actual risk, moan and whinge as much as possible to get an earlier slot".
If the machines are that safe, if Hotpoint are doing their best, if getting in touch makes it more difficult for everyone else - why didn't you just wait for them to contact you?
Because it was already x weeks over the allotted time frame after registration, I thought the registration had not gone through properly or I'd been forgotten about - the people being discussed here are the ones who have already been provided a modification date and who then go onto challenge this for xyz reasons.
In my case, I hadn't been given any modification date at all and as the allotted period had passed I sent them a letter asking if I could be provided with a modification date - I'm not sure how that makes me a 'hypocrite'?
I've stated numerous times my beef is with people whingeing and proclaiming self importance in order to queue jump, I strongly deny that I did this.
I'm not sure why you've waited 2 days to dredge up this argument anyway.
To be honest you can criticise and point out flaws all you like as far as I'm concerned, but at the end of the day, other than criticising people with a difference of opinion, I've still not seen you post one single piece of helpful advice to a consumer... Seems to me like you only pop up on this thread to bait people into arguments no doubt for your own self gratification.0 -
My tumble dryer has been repaired, I registered it back in November but I've now notice it is giving out tremendous heat to a point the clothes practically burn when you get them out and the work top above it is also very warm,
Just wondering if anyone else has had this since there machines have been repaired.0 -
I've managed to get a hold of the email Hotpoint send out to notify people of their replacement month and offer replacement dryers - I thought it'd be useful to post it up here so that people can see what it looks like as I've seen a few people ask about it and how they get replacement dryers etc...
It'll also be good for people so they know what to expect when they get it.
The email is very interesting as it gives facts and figures on incident rates etc...While this is an important issue, please keep in mind that only a very small number of dryers experience any problems associated with this issue. Out of 5.3 million products sold between April 2004 and September 2015, there has been an incident rate of 0.014%. The safety of our customers has always been, and remains to be, our number one priority.

Why? It's the second off last post and was only posted less than half an hour ago - this thread is most popular during the day so the poster is unlikely to get many answers tonight anyway.bjplfw2007 wrote: »My tumble dryer has been repaired, I registered it back in November but I've now notice it is giving out tremendous heat to a point the clothes practically burn when you get them out and the work top above it is also very warm,

Which model is it?
Does the 'tremendous heat' come from front or rear or both?
Do the clothes smell of burning or are they just really hot?0 -

Bearing in mind the so called facts and figures are not exactly independant they are coming from Whirlpool.
So from their email they churned out 5.3 million defective tumble driers over a period of 11.5 years. When Whirlpool acquired the company they miraculously discovered that there had been an incident rate of 0.014%.
My maths puts that at 742 incidents of fire over the 11.5 years, I don't call 742 fires trivial and those figures are probably underestimated.
The biggest question for me though is how did Whirlpool come to this conclusion when Hotpoint hadn't noticed over a period of 11.5 years???????????0 -

Which doesn't seem quite as low.
Or to put it another way, you are wrong. Do the maths again. Even at a glance you are wrong.0
