I will continue to say they knew about it for a long time and again I'll ask you, how long do you think they knew about it?

    3 months before the recall.

    3 months before the recall.

What about all the fires over the years at least some of the burnt out machines would of been returned to them for inspection. Did they just make appliances and not care what happened to them, wouldn't any responsible manufacturer keep a watchful eye on how their products performed in people's homes.

Considered all that and my answer is still that they only truly knew the extent of the problem 3 months before the recall.

Hotpoint call centre staff were rude and totally inconsistent in their response, going so far as to insinuate I was not telling the truth. I have contacted the retailer, been given a full refund and purchased a different brand of machine.

And actually no, I don't expect to be treated any differently to anybody else, just consistently and with respect. Basically the same way as the Company I work for treats its clients - after all they pay our salaries at the end of the day and we wish to retain their custom.

Truth about what? If your machine is affected by the recall what is there to prove? They'll modify it...

What exactly did you ask them/want from them?

How do you know what they did and didn't do?

We've discussed this, at length, before and quite simply they're not going to issue a multi-million pound repair program off the back of a few reports and inspections of machines (which I suspect they very rarely get to investigate anyway).

Even if x machines had been returned to them, it doesn't mean they'd instantly issue a modification program, x amount of fires could just have been poor maintenance. It could take them an age to realise the full potential of the problem.

It could take them years to gather enough evidence and pin point the problem, then liaise with relevant bodies and setup the process and logistics of a repair program etc, not to mention designing and manufacturing enough replacement backs to start the program etc...

I'm not denying that they probably "knew" for a few years, what I struggle with is your continued implied accusation that they knew but did nothing about it without any apparent consideration for how these things work in the real world.

Well we will have to agree to disagree then, my best guess is that they were aware for 6 or 7 years.

So why repeatedly spout 11 years? You really are not honest after all, despite your claim.

...it's 'would have' and not 'would of' BTW! :o

I said they have been churning them out for 11 years, which is a fact, please try to pay attention. Not sure what honesty has to do with it :rotfl:
  • Posted on Facebook on 17/3/16 that was unhappy and they replied immediately asking for details. The next day they rang me and arranged appointment for 24/3/16. Attended on that day and modified my dryer. Success and thanks MSE.
