Hi all, not sure how rensor managed to get the email address for Whirlpool, as all the avenues I've tried only offer phone & mail addresses.

Istar337 requested the email address from rensor & has since
posted, so did you get the correct email address.

    Cheers

I think part of the problem is now going to be that for every person who kicks off and starts firing letters, throwing their teddies out of the pram etc because they have a date months in advance and gets an earlier date just pushes someone else, normally the sensible ones who can actually assess the risk and deal with it, further out with their appointments.

I would not be surprised that for each person that thinks they deserve priority treatment and kicks up a stink there is a person who had an early date that now gets cancelled and given a later one.

So, congratulations to all the me, me ,me sheeple flock that screamed, ranted and threatened just to get an early date. You epitomise the modern view of 'Screw you, I'm more important than you and deserve special treatment' all because you are incapable of assimilating information properly

I could understand the hysteria if a tumble dryer was a piece of life saving equipment but it's a luxury item that Drysdale clothes. I'm certain many people in our pampered society don't even own one so the mind boggles how these poor disadvantaged souls manage to survive without one!

Or is just that a lot of people are prepared to stand up for themselves and get their repair done earlier because they have genuine concerns that they may have a house fire.
I can't find any sympathy for a company that turned out faulty products for 11 years.

Maybe you are prepared to go down to the river and beat your clothes against a stone then dry them over a period of days out in the cold damp air.
Luckily most people in this modern world are not prepared to do that and they pay their hard earned money to buy equipment to help them. After paying this money they have every right to expect good safe service from the equipment they buy.

Why on earth would anyone need to go down the river to wash their clothes when there isn't an issue with the Washington machines?
It's not like there isn't an alternative, once the Washington has been on a fast spin they can be placed on an airer or hung out to dry.....It's not rocket science.
Washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers all come with warnings but people all over the world still use them everyday, the dryers in question can still be used just like tens thousands of them have been but just with a little more caution... Making sure they are clean and fluff free after every use isn't hard and should be done issue or not.
Every single effected dryer will be repaired/replaced but will still have the potential to go up in flames so maybe those whose lives depend on them maybe better weaning themselves off them now and taking advantage of the better weather... Those without gardens I'm sure could squeeze an airer or 2 in.

They may have a house fire regardless.....all tumble dryers are potentially dangerous... I had a dishwasher, it went up in smoke not due to a fault but due to the nature of the product.
A very small percentage have gone up in flames, how many have been confirmed its down to the issue in question?

I've been considering raising this point for the last few weeks myself, glad someone else has brought it up :T

Completely agree with you. If you get an appointment on x date, it's likely the first available appointment - I'm sure Hotpoint want this over and done with as quickly as the rest of us and they aren't just throwing random dates at people.

Those who do kick off and get an earlier appointment probably feel very smug, but I wonder if they're aware (or even care) that someone else (who has probably been waiting for longer than them) has now lost their engineer slot and been shoved out of the way to make way for them.

Personally I don't own a tumble drier but if people choose to spend their money on one it should be as safe as possible. I know full well that any electrical appliance as the potential to cause a fire but Hotpoint seem to have a bigger problem than other manufacturers.
