  • Deleted_User - I've been enjoying reading your comments on decluttering. I think we paid to have a choice of products at our disposal and then we chose to use others instead. We had the option of using it, so the money wasn't quite wasted, if you see what I mean? We are just learning by having a choice, what we really like.

I'm realising that many of my eyeshadows are v similar, and there are only so many shades of brown that you need!

    Two UUs:

A tangerine soap part of a gift set years ago. Didn't smell of anything anymore but lathered up well. More incentive to buy soap and use it fresh.

Clarins blue orchid facial oil - This doesn't really suit my skin I've decided. It was a gift but I won't be replacing it.

    One IN:

I found a black eyeliner pencil in my stationary drawer. Which probably means my nephews have been using it for colouring in :rotfl: I've sharpened it and stuck it back in the make up bag!

    Hello again!

Right, just an update on the shower gel I've decanted into my S&G pump (never can resist using a pump when I have one - much more economical!): Nivea Creme Care shower creme.

    So far, so creamy...;)

No more UU yet feels like a slower month than normal.

However I brought home a few products from work (from doing sleep ins) that are spluttering - a body mist, roll on deodorant and a mini toothpaste which all look to only have 1 or 2 uses left so should be UU by the weekend. The Loccitane hand cream us spluttering now too but I suspect when I cut it open there will be loads left still. Going to focus on the Palmolive soap this weekend too. Oh and I'm going swimming tonight so must remember to replace the shampoo, conditioner and hair mask and put a spare shower gel in my kit bag. Will go rooting in stash shortly for those, may also UU a couple of sachets at swimming. I use a ton of conditioner and shower gel there as I hate the chlorine smell on my skin and the chlorine dries my hair out but swimming is the only exercise I can tolerate ATM without being in too much pain.

Hi I used join in thhis thread a few years ago, then I was having a bad time in my home life and dropped out. I have been reading through the thread recently and would like to join in the 7 for summer if that's ok?

The toiletries side of my stash has reduced considerably in recent years, with a lot of products only being one in use and either 1 in stash or repurchased once I UU. the exceptions are showergels, bought a large batch last year in one of the Bodyshop sales as was good value, working through these and won't purchase more till all UU. Body lotion as just keep forgetting to use it, but haven't bought anymore. Still have a few hand creams left, but rapidly going through them as my hands are suffering at the moment.

Unfortunately the make up Issue has got worse, I've become obsessed with Urban Decay and OPI products and purchase them when ever I need to cheer myself up. Really need to work on this.

As a result all of my 7 by summer are makeup related.

1 - OPI Miss Piggy's big Number mini (have a very similar shade in a full size).
2 - OPI Cement the Deal Mini
3 - Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour in Glinda. This is a lovely lippy in a pencil, unfortunately they don't do these anymore. Its only a little stub now, and I love it but have too many lip items.
4 - Benefit Coralista Blusher (from the cheeky sweet spot palette), has already hit pan. Have way too many blushers at present.
5 - Urban Decay Factory Eyeshaddow (from Naked 3 Palette), has already hit pan, but not using this shade very often now.
6 - Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening primer potion - Have a different primer I like better.
7 - Urban Decay Baked Cowboy Eyeshaddow from the Shaddow box, again have already hit pan, but haven't used this one in ages.

Sorry for the long post and I hope you don't mind me joining in again.

SuiDreams, good to see you again, sorry that RL has been tough, hope that things are on the up for you.

    Some UU's:D

200ml OPI Avojuice Grapefruit Jucie. Came as part of a set, have another fragrance. Seemed a bit thin, but absorbed well and quickly. 24.03.16 4/20

1 Laura Geller brown eye liner. Was down to the last ¼” and then the point broke off. WNBA 24.03.16 3/19

15ml OPI matte nail envy (not in figures, reminder to self to finish bottle) 24.03.16

Hopefully I will finish 2 or 3 more things and may re-purpose the dregs of the shower gel which now doesn't match any body lotion.

Nails are Leighton Denny Butterfly Wings, need to choose something new:)

Loving your philosophy Deleted_User. What is the use of having products lying around untouched and unused. I'm now a firm believer of treating everything as if it's a considered purchase and doing research before spending any money on something that is going to sit in a drawer.

Thanks VALM! I've been reading a bit of the Marie Kondo thread and, while I won't be fully subscribing to those methods, it has made me realise that if I look at something like an eyeshadow and can't think anything more than 'it's ok, I suppose' maybe someone else might get more benefit from it than me.

Thanks hedgesparrow! It's definitely teaching me a lesson of where it's worth spending more and that just because Rimmel is good at foundation doesn't mean they're good at eyeshadow for example. While going through my stash I'm realising that one of the few places I need to spend a decent whack of money on is a decent matte palette. Cheaper matte eyeshadows just aren't as good and I don't always want to wear shimmer. Swatching all my shadows definitely helped me decide some of them weren't worth keeping. Now I've got to try and do my palettes somehow.

Few unexpected UUs including a proper LHJ!
    26. Superdrug Vitamin E All Over Body Cream. WMBA if they started doing a smaller size. This is enormous! 475ml instead of 200ml like these things normally are. It is really nice but it's just too big for someone as fickle as me. I have the Argan Oil version in the stash but am going to try and use some other bits first.
    27. The Body Shop English Dawn White Gardenia EDT. WDBA. Love this! Have a body mist version but going to finish off the last quarter of a Moringa one first.
    28. Nuxe Reve de Miel Face Cleansing & Makeup Removing Gel mini. WDNBA. I don't understand why the Reve de Miel lipbalm smells like heaven and this smells vile but it did. Used it to shave with.

I'm still putting money away for everything I UU (£1 for full size, 50p mini, 20p sachet) plus any money from selling stuff and it's building up nicely! I'm not doing it as a sealed pot so I may dip into it for a matte palette as I mentioned above. The obvious choice is between UD Naked Basics 1 or 2 but if anyone else has any suggestions I'm all ears! Becca Ombre Nudes looks good but I've never had Becca products.
    Happy long weekend everyone! :)

It's been a super slow month for me as I used up a lot of my 'almost' empties at the beginning of the year, but I have some more UU for the past week:

Nivea Visage Oil Free Moisturising Fluid 2ml sample - This was a good quality moisturiser as it left a nice matte finish and actually 2ml lasted me 2 mornings so a little went a long way too.
Boots Essentials Refreshing Cucumber Cleansing Wipes - I really love the scent of the Boots cucumber products and these wipes were great. WDBA.
So? Kiss Me Perfumed Body Lotion 100ml - This had a lovely fresh scent and I applied this before work every morning. I prefer the body lotion to the So? perfumes and I wish it was possible to buy them separately. WMBA.
H&M Bronzing Powder 8.5g - This lasted me a good part of 1.5 years, despite using it fairly frequently to contour my cheek bones. My skin has an olive tin but I am pale and this suited my skin tone and didn't look too orange. WDBA but I want to try out other brands. I'm currently using Body Shop Honey Bronzer from my stash to replace it.

    INs
    - Another reduced Beyonc! perfume gift set from Boots and Ghost Whisper (reduced to £10 RRP £46) from Superdrug as they seemed like a good deal.
    - 99p face cream from Superdrug to add to my stash.
    - I've been loading up on Dove stuff as a lot of it is going to cheap everywhere. Got a couple of the body oils for 90p each in Superdrug - much better than the £8 or so in Boots.
    - I also got a bottle of OGX conditioner from Superdrug clearance for 70p (usually £6.99).
    - I got a freebie of Balance Me Face Mask from Glamour Magazine.

I'm totally addicted to bargains but I tell myself that at least I'm buying things cheap that I know I will get some use out of.

    Happy long weekend everyone! :)

the naked 2 is lovely- i admit after 6 months only two shadows have a deep dip- bootycall and verve. I use it a lot- nearly everyday but the shades are kind of sheer. I would buy a mini naked palette again. the basics palette is ideal as it is smaller and more portable. I know i will end up with shades that will be untouched.

Would a good quad that you can finish full be a better buy? I feel naked 2 is a little over rated as my lancome quad has better pigments and is very blend-able.

I hate the word dupe but an excellent cheaper version of an excellent palette is from sleek. It is so pigmented and rich feeling. it is well worth a look.
  • A few INs:

TBS Peach Body Butter - Given a sample pot that was only used with spatulas, result!
17 blusher - the powder blush is back in Boots so I went nuts and bought 5 of my favourite shade because I get through a pot every year (when they make them - the last few months I've been using mac but it's not the same). I will definitely use these and they are powder (and sealed) so I'm all good. :)
Miscellaneous neon pink liquid lipstick - was given this by a friend who didn't want it. Suits me so I'm pretty happy :)
Wild Sage & Co Cedarwood & Green Clay soap - got this because my soap is running low.

    UU / TAs:
Gerda Spillman primer - UU - this was crap. The last use curdled on my skin.
Simpler moisturiser 30ml - TA - hate this stuff, thought I'd use it in a bind on a trip, but just chucked it and used my handcream... it was that bad. It felt like it was STRIPPING my skin. Horrible horrible horrible.
Simple face wash 30ml - chucked - I have sensitive skin and given the moisturiser, decided it wasn't worth trying to use.
Simple toner 30ml[/b] - same as above, TA.
LRP Retinol - Sold - really didn't suit my skin, I broke out every time even though I only used minimal amounts in the evening twice a week for a while.
LRP Effacluar Duo - Sold - really didn't suit my skin, I broke out every time even though I only used minimal amounts in the evening twice a week for a while (different evenings to the retinol!).
Palmers cocoa butter hand cream - HG - love this stuff. Used up. Got other hand creams to use up before I replace it.

My project pan list right now:
    Palmers olive butter hand cream
    17 photo flawless primer
    Jane Iredale foundation
    Body shop concealer stick
    Body Shop highlighter pen
    Rimmel bronzer
    Benetint
    Garnier roll-on
    No 7 eye pencil
    Body Shop lipstick
    Avon lipstick
    L'Oreal glamshine
    Tropic skincare lip balm
Burt's Bees Beeswax vitamin E & peppermint lip balm
Boots tea tree witch hazel mask
    Garnier Ultimate Blend Conditioner
    St Tropez in-shower gradual tanner
    Body shop Rainforest conditioner
    Umberto Giannini Argan Oil
    Aveda Curly hair cream
    Kenzo le monde est beau
    French connection body spray

I've got other things I'd like to use up (and not repurchase - mostly makeup & nail varnish) but these items are the ones currently in use and steadily, regularly getting used.
  • I've never been brave enough to attempt this but I was shpping with my mam today, looking for a new cleanser and she said "oh did you use up the big one I got you for christmas already?" - I hadn't even started - I'd forgotten about it. So I've pulled it out of the drawer along with far too much other stuff and I'm on a mission!

One thing I have an issue with already though...Body lotion.
I get loads of it for gifts as part of sets and I never use it. It just doesn't soak in. I could put on at 7am then when I shower at 9pm it's still there, sitting all streaky on top of my skin. All of them seem to do this and my skin is pretty dry.

I've already given any un-started lotions to the chazzer. I'm looking for ways to use up body lotion in a not-as-intended way!
Maybe soften my leather setee? use it as shaving cream? clean my shoes?! any other ideas? :rotfl:
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
