Right, here I am with a proper check in for the day... :D It's a bit of a rollercoaster to be honest. :o
The doctor says I am burning out which is probably the least surprising thing I've heard in ages. It doesn't stop me from feeling like a failure though, and that I have let the kids that I teach down. She's signed me off for another week. I honestly thought that taking the rest of this week off would help me to rest and recuperate but I am still absolutely shattered. The simple fact is that I am so run down though that I think I'm ok, but as soon as someone even looks at me then I either burst into tears or throw an epic toddler style meltdown. After crying over my indecision to choose a car park in town, and losing my temper because it was raining outside and I couldn't hang the washing out then I have to agree... It is quite funny when I think about it but embarrassing to behaving in such a way. Hopefully another week and I'll be fighting fit and more able to laugh at myself again.
In money saving news.... We are still short of dh's wages as he is still off work (thankfully I get full pay when I'm off) and money is tighter than ever. Did the big shop online, which all arrived on Monday. Wednesday I picked up a chest freezer that I won on the bay of E - ok it cost me £46 but I am stupidly excited by the whole thing - the idea of having more freezer space means I can do more batch cooking and more yellow sticker shopping! Yesterday I had to pop into town and spent nothing other than parking money and some cotton yarn. Today should be a nsd though and I'm under doctors orders to rest - not take time off work to get lots of other stuff done. So rest here I come!

CCL make sure you rest. Hugs.

Loving my day off. Lye in, cooked breakfast, cleaned out kitchen cupboards, bathroom, bedrooms, washing done and draped on radiators.

Annoyed my boss has tried to ring me on my day off. I cope without ringing them when they are always off on holiday and I have one day grrrr needless to say not answering my phone. Rant over!

Claiming Sfd. 2/16 today - not going out in this rain.

Been trying to do at least good walk each day however with a woolly hat and hood on last night still got earache. Today going to play with my gym ball and some dumbells instead and stay warm.

ccl glad you've been to the doctors and that they've signed you off. Please do put your feet up and get some rest :)

Today is SFD number 4. I had a good day at work and although I now have a huge batch of coursework to mark but I have a very social weekend so I have already told myself that I will do it next weekend instead of stressing to get it done.

I have tutoring tonight so I need to eat soon and clean the house as have people here tomorrow.

Well yesterday would have been NSD 2 - except that we made the decision at 8.30 to join some friends in the pub. Was a lovely evening, though - caught up with people we've not seen in a while and spent £12.20, so not excessive for a night out for 2! :D

Today is an NSD. I made costumes for WBD party - OH said many children were wearing bought ones (ALice in Wonderland theme) - what a waste for 1 day's wear (for many) - mine cost nothing but time - all materials at home already/ or printed off :)

I have 2 poorly children sent home from school (different schools) - meaning plans for tomorrow have changed (def no swimming and possibly no food shopping)

OH is continuing with the decorating of DS3's room. We do need to buy a doorstop to make sure his wardrobe door knob (solid brass) doesn't connect with his new mirror and a new light (still had nursery themed light up - is almost 7 - old light will be sold)

Other than that I have spent about 7 hours in the past few days doing charity related stuff at home (have been working lots this week, so unable to get to the charity workplace when it's open) so this week's volunteering bit can be counted as achieved :) Another item has also been added to the bag of clothes for the homeless shelter - hopefully OH will drop that off next week :)

CCL - please don't go back too soon - if GP suggests another week off afterwards, take it - have been at the point of mental and physical exhaustion myself and it can take longer than you think to recover xx

Have to ask - I get NSD and LSD - but what does SFD stand for?? :)

    Hi All

So today I paid some more of the debt and managed to get some good bargains at the supermarket. A joint of pork for £4, 2 packs of mince for £1 each and 3 loaves at 40p each. Pleased with that. I cooked the pork for tonight's dinner and have frozen the rest of it.

Found a shiny 20p piece on my way back to the house post shopping, first roadkill of March.

Checked the banking. Fitted in some cleaning and tidying. Nor much else to report.

    Night all

    Morning turtles!

Sorry not checked in a few days but have been reading!

So far this week I've only spent on Wednesday when I bought a bag of crisps at work () and two guide books for my holidays (on eBay as was cheapest). I am off to Bali and Singapore :j:j

I'm not counting my holiday spends as I've been saving up for them and spends are likely to be all over the place. The flights were a bit more than I hoped but I have booked us lovely accommodation which has come way under budget so on track overall. Plus got around £40 cash back tracked from Expedia :T unfortunately I hadn't taken account of the fact I would need a vaccination which costs £190 :eek::eek: don't really want to risk it as we are staying in a really high risk area. Luckily I only needed one other jab which was free at dr's and no malaria tablets.

Cards are a bit all over the place as I used both of my cc's and I'm waiting on money from friend for her share. Plus ordered all the Mother's Day pressies for me and sis from Amazon on the cc. I save every month for gifts so at least it's all accounted for! Once the balances are updated I am paying everything off with the savings so I know where I am again.

Decided I will not be building up an emergency fund or saving money towards the card (other than the regular saver) and instead will just start to pay them down. Would rather see the balances go down and be gone than get 5% interest. Plus I do have a large disposable income from Airbnb so if I do have an emergency I can just pay the minimum to debt and use that.

Today will be spendy as I am off to aldi for a biggish shop. I am still trailing them. Some stuff is a few pence cheaper than morrisons and neat is quite a bit less but I wasn't impressed with the freshness of the veg I bought last week :( will give them another go today though.

I am also going to try their gin ;) I will need to ask for more bottles for birthday. Don't normally go through it quick as just have one while getting ready to go out but recently we don't go out much, tend to go round each other's houses for parties so I am drinking from my stash (much cheaper than bars though!). pinkster is my favourite gin but it's over £30 a bottle so haven't bought a bottle yet. They sell it in waitrose so maybe I need to check the price each week for offers!

Other than that I will be going to the gym soon then spending the day cleaning, washing and batch cooking.

Today I will cook a lamb curry from one of Jamie's books and make the onion and tomato base sauce for chicken curry tomorrow. Then cooking vindaloo on Tuesday. As you can tell I :heartpuls:heartpuls curry! My weekly meal plan is-

    Lamb curry
    Chicken pathia
    Beef vindaloo
    Squash and soinach coconut curry
    Thai beef stir fry
    Chilli
    Pea and asparagus risotto

Pretty sure the chilli helps me to loose weight :p

Hope everyone had a lovely day. And hope you have a nice restful day CCL :A

Humm just noticed my signature didn't come up in my last post. No matter.

Plans for mothers day tommorow are taking the little one for her first swimming trip. We haven't really done much as a 4 yet. Tends to be Dad and DS do this and we do that. So will enjoy that plus very cheap. If you are a member of the local library you get a discount and children are free anyway.

We have rain and greyness here in SE London none of this lovely snow that keeps being mentioned. Oh well :)

    Have a good day all.

P.S I realised I'd made a mistake in the total I'd paid off since xmas which is actually £800. Not £700. Must have forgotten to update after a payment. I can't believe it. On my tiny income at the moment. I keep eying my EF thinking if I used that too I could be under £1k but I know it makes me feel happier having it there. My debt is on 0% and the EF is earning me some pennies so....

    Bye for now.

Hello all hope everyone is well :)

2 sfd to report so far.

Yesterday would have been but I overslept by an hour as so exhausted from hospital placement that I fell into bed Thurs night when got in without setting the alarm  Miraculously did not have the shame of being the student who turned up late and made it to handover on time :T but I did have to get lunch from the M&S at the hosp  Have been so good taking a packed lunch and dinner to see me through the shift, nevermind at least has only happened once and not everyday.

Managed to get £29 for the dvd's we sorted out and plan to sort the cd's this wknd. This will clear out that unit so it can go meaning less clutter and with a rejig of the front room can move the dining table away from radiator so it does not block the heat.

    Anyhoo happy weekend March Turtles
