NST March TURTLES ARE TOUGH

Just popping back on as discovered I have £20 left over after tutoring and spending so I have paid that off my debt :j
Yesterday, I bought two pairs of trousers for work as I was down to one pair of trousers for work but they were getting thinner and I was having to wash them overnight to wear them everyday at work. I can't decide whether to keep both pairs, they are both nice in different ways and if the first pair wear through, then I'll need two pairs. But if I lose weight, then they'll be too big. Why am I so indecisive?!LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Fmess - I'm the same, was down to 1 pair for work. I acquired another pair, so can alternate. If the original pair are wearing thin, I'd keep both new pairs as they are being worn a lot, and you do not want to end up down to one pair again. Hope that makes sense!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Thanks apple
that makes perfect sense. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my indecision! I think I just find it hard to spend money on things like clothes nowadays.

Hi All
Not an NSD today but not a massive spend day either. Swimming cost £8 for the family. Then we went for coffee afterwards as my treat. DD was quite good at the pool. She'd had enough after 30 mins but the small pool wasn't as warm as it could have been. The guys stayed in swimming for the full hour.
Thank you Calling but you are always hitting the debt trail hard too. We seem to often cross post on the Xmas challenge thread and PAD I'm glad you got to Skype your DD and that she looks like the adventure is suiting her well. Sorry about your earache.
Dolly Thank you that is very kind of you. It is really important to me to be debt free and although it feels elusive at times I take the view every penny shaved off or kept in my pocket gets me a step closer. The PAD thread is great for daily motivation on that front I find. Good luck with your enormous jobs list today. I hope you do get some time to rest too.
Mothernerd I thought of you today. Apparently our closest library is under threat of closure and the community have put in a proposal to run it as a proper library still. I was chatting to a local who is heavily involved in the campaign and it just made me so cross that this government don't value the libraries any more. I hope yours is safe from any of that? It seems to be a borough by borough situation here. The one I live in is affected but the neighbouring one isn't. Sorry bit off topic for the challenge!
Did 10 mins shredding old paperwork this afternoon. I try to keep on top of it as I hate it that my shredder will only do about 10 pages before it shuts off.
Making shepards pie for tea so have sorted all my ingredients out for that. Including the YS mince.
Hope everyone is warm. It's gone very cold here so we have the blankets out.

Quote for the day
When I loved myself enough
I came to love being alone, surrounded by silence,
awed by its spell, listening to inner space.
Let me know if you want me to continue with these quotes or switch to something else. i did get a book out called "Backstabbers and Bullies, how to cope with the dark side of people at work." as several of you seemed to be having work related problems. It is an excellent read, but a bit short on quotes (soundbites ).
Stewby yes chasing kids counts as exercise and sorry you missed out on the bouncy castle. I believe the sumo suits are fun too.
dolly84 do try and fit a little "me" time in somewhere. Super bargainacious spending.
Fmess yay to free lifts and £20 left over from tutoring. I would also say keep both pairs of trousers and if you lose weight it's a bonus. If you send a pair back, it's odds on you will only be able to get shorts and lightweight stuff if you need more (new season clothes).
Clippy girl well done on the gym class and cutting out the sugar. I wish I had a tenth of your energy.
Bob glad you enjoyed the swimming. We have been through the library consultation exercise. Luckily our town is one of the two largest in the borough (borough is the biggest in the country) at opposite ends of the borough. We now check our own books in and out and log on and off the computers and the library closes at five every day except Thursday (still the old 7 pm). A lot of the smaller libraries fared worse and sometimes there only seem to be about 3 staff on duty.
In common with other Councils, ours has had to outsource various departments to run at arms length and the libraries and sports centres come under the leisure and cultural trust. Although the Council still puts in a good chunk of the money, I think the trust status allows them to access other sources of funding. They also have volunteers working in the library as well as hosting the gallery and function room upstairs.
I didn't get to sloth after all. I couldn't make myself do the other half of the outdoor painting but I have scrubbed the bathroom and the kitchen sink (I have been wiping them but they needed a proper scrub), made large pots of butter bean casserole and bacon soup (all potted up and put away), loads of washing up, washing and dried outside ans bits like sweeping up the sawdust from sawing shelves. Had a bath at 4 pm and slothing now commenced.
Today I am grateful for having the foresight to buy my own bar of chocolate (DS2 turned up with chrysanthemums), for hot baths (and clean ones too) and bacon soup. Tried a scoop full when it was done, went back for another scoop and a half, just having a full portion now.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
I always do that when I batch cook mothernerd- can't stop eating a spoonful everytime I walk past!
So it's been a sfd today. Could face going to screw fix as legs hurt and it was cold. So lay under my blanket watching catch up of a few things.
Then treated myself to a long hot bath as I had nothing better to do (no guests checking out do no cleaning!) just lying down to recover (I always have them too hot). Going to have a pamper evening in front of the telly and do my nails  feel like I've let myself go a bit so getting back on track. Going to get my hair cut shorter as well to encourage me to do something other than just tie it back and will be handy for holiday when it's hot and humid as its very long atm.
I would also keep the trousers too fmess if they were not too much? Will make your life a lot easier not having to worry about keep having to wash.
Re libraries- think I single handly keep mine open with the amount of fines I get :on luckily I'm in a city so ours is massive and open good times. It also has the self service scanners:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Mothernerd - I love the quotes - keep them coming. Although I am very curious about Backstabbers and Bullies as it sounds a lot like my place :rotfl:
I have had a reasonably good day, although it hasn't gone exactly as was planned. The plan was a cuppa and breakfast in bed, followed by tutoring and then dh taking us out somewhere cheap and chipper for dinner as it's Mother's Day. DS was far too distracted with Match of the Day so I made my own breakfast and cuppa, tutoring went as planned, but my old boots finally gave up and had worn through by the time I'd finished walking through the snow. So, a trip to a shoe shop scuppered my nsd - particularly as said shop is closing down. I ended up spending £77:o:o I did use my compensation money, and got 7 pairs of footwear. 2 pairs for me for now, 2 pairs for ds (school shoes now, football boots for later), 2 pairs of slippers (for dd and dh for Christmas) and some plimsolls for ds for next school year. Put petrol in the car as well while I was out.
Got home to find poor dd ill with tonsillitis - bless her she's never ill. I've drugged her with paracetamol and ibuprofen and sent her to her room to watch tv and eat ice cream. She's really worried she won't make it to school tomorrow, so I've told her a good night's sleep will help. We will just have to see. So Mother's Day dinner is postponed for now. I suspect we'll get a better deal on a 'non special' day anyway.
I've sent my week's cover work in and am now going to put my feet up and relax for the next 7 days without any thought of work at all.Not giving up

mmmm - bacon soup sounds yummy!
It's my bday as well as Mothering SundayAlready had Ds3 in bed with us (poorly) so was awake early. OH got up and made a cup of tea and brought it back - bringing 2 very sleepy teenagers and a wide awake DS2 with him, along with a heap of presents and cards
I got plants, 2 fruit trees, chocs, cake, pink fizz, smellies, lots of No 7 face stuff, flowers, a little plaque, a gift voucher for SW
, a voucher for afternoon tea (yum!), a new (purple!) utensils pot and a silver bracelet (not all from OH and the kids!!) - all very nice
However, as well as DS1 and DS3 being poorly, DS2 and OH have succumbed to a bugSo I've baked bread and rolls, cooked a roast (eaten only by 3 of us - and 1 ate not very much), washing, washing up, cleaned the downstairs loo, cleaned the kitchen sides, emptied the dishwasher and am going to tackle the ironing in a mo
Tomorrow will have some spends - a Cubs activity needs to be paid for and we need to buy a doorstop. If I'm spending anyway I may as well get the things from the supermarket which Oh either forgot or was unable to get at the time.
Hope everyone is having a lovely SundayI'm not in paid work now for a month - so am hoping to catch up on some stuff at home instead

Mothernerd - I like the quotes too. Glad your library is safe. I have always felt very comfortable in libraries and the thought that we may well see them gone in coming years is just so sad. Glad your son brought you flowers if not chocolates...
Greent - happy birthday! Double celebrations in your house then.
CCL - oh no poor daughter. Tonsillitis is just the worst. I have never had migraines but as soon as I get remotely run down I get sore throat after sore throat. Most recent batch of tonsillitis was when DD was about a month old. It's like swallowing razor blades. Really hope your daughter recovers soon." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Greent - happy birthday
Mothernerd - you are so right about the change of types of clothing in shops
Clippy - no they were both fairly reasonable and I usually wear them for 2/3 years so I'm happy to spend a little bit more on trousers than the supermarket clothing ranges charge
SFD number 5 has been achievedI'm off to bed as just got back! Night all
