thrifty well done on your leftovers dinner. I sympathise with you over your son's haircut. The first time DS2 went to the hairdresser's he cried, no sound just huge tears running slowly down his face. The young girl backed away and refused to cut any more. For a few years I had to cut it when he was asleep, waiting until he turned over to do the other side.
Calling hope your resting in the garden helped.
:j:j:j Congratulations on being debt free GSRcat :j:j:j.
greent sounds like a productive tip trip and more fleabay sales. Enjoy your time together as a family.
Apple it's okay to spend money on the house, I only suggested starting with the low/ no spend jobs. Doing the work yourselves saves a massive amount.
Crazy lady 2009 you are welcome to join us in April. I am now debt free (and have always been mortgage free) but feel happiest on here and get a little lost outside of here and the old style forums (no criticism of the mfw forum meant or implied).
I have used the tin of fence paint, mainly on the fence panel but some small bits that make the corners of the raised bed and a post I had missed last time. Reached all the bits I didn't get last time (held the growing leaves down and out of the way with a piece of wood). Will wait to see how it looks when it is dry before deciding to buy another tin.
Also did a small amount of getting soil from the path (it's actually sand) and leveling the ground where the old cobble raised bed used to be. Will do more tomorrow unless it rains. Enough jobs to do yet without spending money on more materials.
I have not gone to film club. I've been undecided all day, wasn't sure about the film and by the time I had a bath and ate I was struggling to stay awake.
Today I am grateful for

Quick question - I'm planning on trying to get s big Ys haul today. My local supermarket closes at 10pm and is closed tomorrow, any idea what kind of time to go?
They often have reduced stuff out about 9-10am on a normal day but also at 3pm on a Sunday (when they close at 4).LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Morning all,
Glad to see you are back crazy lady! I took your advice in the end and have been Airbnbing my spare room since last April and it's going very well so far
The plan for today is to pop down to cheap shopping area and try and find a cupboard/sideboard. Imagine it won't be as cheap as gumtree but nothing suitable is being addedalso need to try and get some shorts from CS as shorts diet is not going well
Lady didn't bother to turn up yesterday or reply to either of my messages about collecting the table. Really annoying as ended up having to relist it! A lady is coming at lunch time to have a look at it (it has scratches from cat) so hopefully she will want it and can collect it soon.
Going to deep clean my bedroom and ensuite as well today. As I'm renting my whole house while I'm away I want to do as much as I can before the day I go to make it less stressful. I always spend the entire day running around dropping the cat off and cleaning for guests and get very stressed out about being ready in time!
Am also going to make some spinach daal for lunches during the week
The Windows weren't particularly successful yesterday but I think that's because I washed them all with the same water so the front ones are very streaky. I live in a Victorian terrace with massive Windows and I have the type that are split in half and look like sash (but open outwards). I ended up hanging out the windows with my ecloth trying to rub the streaks off. Could nearly reach the bottom when hanging out the top so worked OK in the end
Need to go and check finances are on track. Can't remember if I paid my spends credit card off or not (if not money will be in the current account for it). Will be transferring all my money out of my 5% tsb acount into my nationwide one as I get free withdrawals abroad. Want as much as I can in there while I'm away in case I've under budgeted but as soon as I'm back I will be starting debt dusting properly. Think I should be able to clear the Argos card in full when I return :T
update- ok i have checked them and am on track. however i was counting a £105 booking on 28 april as part of aprils budget but the money wont come until may. plus i'm not sure i can stretch all budgets for over 5 weeks so have accounted for £100 buffer. this means i should return from holiday with £470 in the bank. the argos card is around £600 so not quite enough to clear it but will nearly do so. but can clear it 1st week of may when the £105 booking money comes in:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Hi Clippy (and Mothernerd, Apple, Fmess, and other comrades!)
I'm glad the Airbnb is working out well for you Clippy. :beer:Its been a steady, and fun source of income for us and a constant reminder that most strangers are really nice folk! It has made me up general standards of cleaning and sorting out of stuff in the house...but I feel your stress and preparations before a hol of your own. We had three cost neutral city breaks last year doing that though, was worth it. I occasionally hire a cleaner to help if it means I can take a lucrative booking without breaking myself! There is no cleaner here today, and I have a tight changeover happening, so am just waiting for guest to leave so I can blitz it! Good luck and happy holidays
Greent - Great to meet you! I am sure the MFW is as friendly, I just don't feel like I have grown into it yet! I haven't had much luck keeping up diaries of my own before, kind of need the threat of the naughty step and inspiration of the monthly rules. I also missed this gang! Looking forward to getting to know all who are currently turtling
I caught up on the thread yesterday - hugs to all feeling under the weather or having a tricky time. I am looking forward to joining you for April, but figured best to start today (yesterday). New spending diary set up, budget reviewed, have the dreary but important task of submitting various expenses forms to do over the weekend. Cooked up a big veg chilli last night and added some portions to the freezer. Not quite preparations on a mothernerd scale, but inspired to cook up the bottom of the fridge veg as someone put it! Going to audit the freezer at some point to make sure I am properly ready for April. May also go on a YS hunt later on - good idea Fmess (but not really sure on timings!).0 -
I had to go out anyway so called in at the local supermarket. Quite a lot of stuff reduced already, between about 25% and 50% off. I only got what I needed or would definitely use so got bits for lunches - cheese and things to go with salad and some eggs. If I buy YS eggs then I can afford to get free range onesLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Hi everyone
No chance of the chat as yet unfortunatelyJust not enough time spare without the kids about. Things are ok at home though - there's no atmosphere and we seem to be getting along ok.
Don't think I'm going to make my nsd target this month. Little spends just keep cropping up here and there. I've already had to pop out this morning because I'd completely forgotten to buy Easter Eggs for my sister's kids. Don't know how on Earth I managed that - can only assume it's been the stressful life I've been living for the past few months.
Bath and shower have been resealed to get some of the little jobs done. I've also had a bit of a sort out in the kitchen this morning as well.
Not much else to report - relaxing and maybe a nap as I'm not feeling so great today. Not giving up

A NSD for me today. I was going to go YS hunting but decided against it because it's wet outside, I'm lazy and I could do with a NSD after yesterday which was a spendy day for me.
I decluttered another 5 items
I cooked a little batch of food to last the next few days:
Tahini sauce
Beetroot and chickpea burgers
Homous
Lentil, tomato and miso soup
Carrot, cucmber and seed salad
Giant fish fingers
Baked jacket potatoes
I swam yesterday but no exercise today.
I hope fellow turtles have a good day

Wow the thread has suddenly gone super busy. Great to see everyone doing so well.
It's grey and raining here. But have had a great day. On the use it up theme I have cleaned up the freezer and made a veg and noddle soup using up all the scraps I save from meal times. That's for dinner tonight. I have also made a fruity cake from the same method. Frozen pineapple rings, cherries and peaches have all gone into it. Once it's cooled will use leftover royal icing to ice it.
All that is left in the freezer now is a couple of tubs of birds eye chillies we bought for about 50p for an enormous sack years ago. Some mushrooms (vile things kept for OH only) & some tangerines that I had in mind to make into marmalade but apparently marmalade needs Seville oranges so no good. Any ideas anyone??
I found a 1p brand match whilst out plus 2 5ps and a 20p.
On an irritating note I have a credit of 10.99 sitting on an old credit card that they refunded me after I complained about something recently. I tried to PAD to my current card but it failed as current card won't accept credit card payments. So I either have to spend the exact amount on something or ? Leave it sitting there...
Fmess YSing is never an exact science I find. I just pop in and see what's about late in the evening 7pm plus which is usually good for bread and veg for pennies. I also find the metro versions of Mr T good stomping grounds as they often are over stocked for the size of the local area so discount more heavily than the big stores. .." Crazy lady nice to see you back and we'll done getting debts cleared on your own. :T:T I need the prodding and the naughty step time outs on here to keep me motivated. Look forward to seeing you in April challenge.
Had a lovely day despite the weather.
Went out for lunch with a friend gorgeous food and our Easter treat. My turn for chose mysterious location, quiet but fab food.
Then popped in Sainsbobs to take clothes back, followed guy with ys machine around the store, went for a coffee and then we continued to stalk him. Got a few bargains, my friend got lots of meat but I have enough in.
Done all my ironing which had built up.
Bob your fruit cake sounds lovely.
I will look into Airbnb properly this time. As live in perfect holiday location and extra cash would be welcome.
CCL will get my bath and shower resealed this weekend one of my pet hate jobs, sealant been sitting here last month. Unopened!
