I still haven't started my seeds but yesterday when i was doing mash I saved all the sprouting bits off the potatoes and cut slightly larger ends off the sweet potatoes as I am going to try making my own slips. Not sure if I can grow sweet potatoes but my secret weapon is a glass topped garden table
Just had to go and look this up. Didn't even now you can do this. Always thought I have to buy seed potatoes as the bought ones aren't as fertile, have deceases that can ruin a crop or are treated. Already got my potatoes in the ground but will definitely try this for sweet potato. Will also now keep some of this years crop from seed potatoes and make my own next year.
Swim today and healthy cheap lunch (YS salad with YS chicken sandwich with HM curried coleslaw, left over frozen fruit smoothie.

Sorry didn't post yesterday had a day off work and posting on my old tablet takes forever.
Did a bit of grocery shop sainsbob and a few plants B & Q.:)
Luckily I went out early and got home just before main road got closed here all day/ night, due to a chemical spill. Rest of the town gridlocked, so dealt with my back garden rest of day as not worth trying to get anywhere.:(
I think I offered to run April? Can't remember which month it was. Never done one before but if no one else wants to do it I will give it a go, just have to grin and bear it:rotfl:
How do I redeem myself off the naughty step, work real hard today honest, up to SFD 10/16. Will try and make another small payment to my cards later and plan to start walking in evening starting tonight( even though chest is still tight)
Hung my washing out this morning doubt that will dry so overcast and no wind.
Still chomping through my pork last night tonight in a curry.
May pop into Boots and weigh myself today as my skirt is so tight, shame me into getting fit.
No spending hopefully today. :cool:LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -

Fmess hugs for you and the poorly doggie.
thrifty my mum has had great results from using ordinary spuds (never buys seed potatoes) but she has really good soil. I don't eat many potatoes (hence them sprouting) so they will probably be enough for me. When I have grown them I have sometimes thrown back one that had been mostly eaten away and got results the following year and also had surprise potatoes when some peelings and scraps went in a bag of compost - opened the tightly screwed top the following year and madly growing plants.
Looked up growing sweet potatoes on the web and someone had done a video of home producing the slips. Thought if they took the same space as normal spuds and don't take much care (they seem to need lots of watering in until they are established) then it would be a more productive use of my small space. Doesn't seem any more complicated than growing a rose bush from a single rose and the one I did when I was 13 is still growing 45 years later (neighbour gave it to me and told me what to do). May have to hang onto DS3's bed base. If I strip off the fabric and replace it with plastic, that would make 2 mini greenhouses.
Calling I will accept your kind offer to run the thread in April. When I started I used one of Kat's challenges (NSK rather than our NST) cut and pasted all the rules into a word document and then tweaked them. Kat had 3 basic rules she wanted us to follow, I put them down as Kat Essentials. My first effort is here -

Cutting and pasting makes it easier to remember everything, you can adjust the number of SFDs, the dates, exercise targets etc but this time I just made a list of everything I wanted to put in and the played around with it till I made it fit the 'Turtles are Tough' format (and I forgot to include the daily check ins but you are all such well trained turtles now and it's such fun on here anyway).
As for redeeming yourself, just keep plodding (as the lovely BeanieLou always says) and trying your best. That's what turtles do, we keep going, and trying and we will all get there in the end.
Couple of Kat challenges for those who haven't seen them

So today I planned to get into my painting clothes, wash all my decent (mostly) black clothes and get on with the outside jobs.
Then I woke up at 7.05 am, had a 5 minute doze and it was 11.35 am and it went on like that, the spirit is willing but the body isn't moving (price for two fairly active getting things done days). Finally had a bath and washed my hair only to find I need to be near the bathroom:o.
So revised plan to salvage something from the day, dressed in presentable but not posh clothes took 4 things (including a pair of curtains so a generous bin bag full) to the library cs bin, went shopping for a new bath mat (did have two old ones that went from being thick to thin then holey then threadbare before discarding) as I seem to need to wash this one every few days and finding something else to put down whilst it's being laundered is getting to be a pain, outside/inside undercoat in a mid-grey (want to paint 2 windowsills, already have the gloss, picked a useful use up colour as only need a bit for this job) plus popcorn for cinema club on Friday.
Have guessed at what I spent on Saturday (wrote down as much as I could remember and added an extra £2) so am definitely over budget on food. have places to be tomorrow so will do more admin / quiet jobs now and crack on with diy over the long weekend (will include some fun).
Today I am grateful that my pants seem slightly loose
that I found what I wanted (only 1 of them) at the first shop
and for getting back home when I really needed to.

Fmess poor dog. He's lucky to have such a caring owner though. Hope he gets well soon.
I met a baby Afghan hound today. He was gorgeous. Super soft and they don't have the long coats till they get older. Beautiful. Never understand people who don't love dogs.
Calling Horray to you running the next challenge. It's always so interesting hearing what different hosts come up with. Good luck with your walking too.
Well today I was astounded to recieve an email from MBNarse putting my credit limit up to £12,500!!! How utterly ridiculous. I'm going to call them and get it reduced. But how many people would think Oooo ok time for a treat?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Healing wishes to your dog, FMess x
Mothernerd - hope you're feeling better tomorrow x
SFD here - yeay!! Thought I'd have to pay out for a Beavers activity, but they weren't doing that tonight, so purse stayed shut
Decluttered some books and CDs today = more hopefully being done tomorrow. Most are being sold via Ziff!t (will probably post on Tues) with the few which they won't accept making their way to the CS in the next few days. DD has had another clear out of things from her room - some items are being donated, but things worth a bit more are going to the next NNS - any money made from selling her things goes to her - which she'll need, as she'll be a poor uni student later this year

I'll definitely give that a go. We live in a very fertile area (former farm land). Do you know how your mum stores the potatoes she wants to use for the next season?
Fmess hope your dog is feeling a bit better.
Another SFD today, because of the holiday I'm not sure of my totals. Another gym session today.
Last night I tidied the last of the holiday bags away and I am finally up to date with the washing . Tonight I will look through my seeds and my square-foot-garden plan and see what's missing. Found another long flower pot thing and will maybe start more herbs or salad.
Also did a freezer inventory this morning and will think of some interesting dinner ideas.
Calling14 looking fwd to next month's challenge.
