:T:T:T MAY The Odds Be Ever In Your Favour! :T:T:T
That's Right - It's The Hunger Games!!!

It's been a favorite of mine since it was released. Survival of the fittest is what the movie is ultimately focusing on. Not all about brawn but an equal measure of ingenuity, cunning and thinking ahead - where is your opponent? It's a fight to the death, you don't want to be there but you have been pushed forward ( are you the leading debt fighter in your home? ), you have chosen your weapons ( extra work or less spending? ) and you are on your guard for what the Capitol (consumerism?) will through at you to make you spend more money (BOGOF?..:p)

Oooh this is good!...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have started all my Challenges since day one with this saying at midnight- never before have I named a Challenge in this way! Until now...

It is precisely152 days from the 01/05/14 until I leave!!! I have my eye on the ball and am working weekends now to cover the costs of my impending move back to Northern Ireland before the epic travel commences...... but what about the little things!

This month we are focusing on the little things that allow the odds to be more in our favour. I don't believe in luck - we make our future ourselves. We are failures or successes according to what we allow ourselves to be. But sometimes there are little things that allow us that one step further.....

What do I mean by the little things....
  • I cancelled my pension for the next 5 months prior to travelling = £1000 saved
  • I am cancelling my monthly phone contract in exchange for a PAYG = £30 saved.
  • I buy a weekly bus ticket instead of individual returns = £2.90 saved per week.
You know what I mean. The pennies you step over and ignore now need to be picked up! And that means literally AND metaphorically...

Please do NOT repost the entire list of rules. It makes the thread unnecessarily long. If you are putting your name down it means you are playing the game. I don't need to know which applies to you... I expect them all to. If one does not apply (because you do it already) then that's great but it now falls under my rules as does everything else. I might be a taskmaster at times, my CAPITAL lettering is simply for emphasis (not shouting) but remember I have been in debt and I respect everyone of you and this journey and above all my way works!!!

There are however - rules to this game!..
  1. This Challenge commences on the 01st May 2014 @ Midnight and closes on the 31st May 2014 @ 2359.
  2. 15 SFD''s please!
  3. You MUST pay towards your debt FIRST. No exceptions. Live off whats left. YOU CAN DO IT.:):):)
  4. You must have budgets worked out PRIOR to the start of the month - which isn't long! And every spend must be written down and recorded.
  5. You must check in once a day ( this includes me! )
  6. Unnecessary spends are unnecessary for a reason. Stamp them OUT please. This includes all of the following ; coffee shops / cafes / Starbucks / work canteens / restaurants / vending machines / noodle bars and chocolate shops / fan-dabby-dozy-can't-be-missed shops and anything else where pennies are lost.
  7. Plan plan plan plan what you are doing this month. I am not going to dictate what you do or who with but plan ahead - can you take your lunch? Can you bake a simple banana bread to take to a friends instead of stopping somewhere after work? Can you get your little one to make a birthday card for a relative instead of buying one - simple things count!
That's it! Not to hard now is it? Just remember - the odds are in your hands, you are the one that can change your future. Lets see what we can do in the next 31 days!!!

Onwards and Upwards!!!..... and just so you know - you will aptly be referred to as Tributes this month!!!
Remember - we are here to support not chastise. If this challenge is not for you please move on. There are a multitude of great challenges to get involved in. This kind of thing is not for everybody - but we get results. This challenge is purely to retrain your brain about how you spend (not dictate) but I do expect all Tributes to abide by these rules.
Simples!!!

I'm in. Not been quite as frugal as I'd have liked to have been during April.
